Its on again.

I get almost no happiness from this game. Deion Sanders then and now irritates me to a level I cant even explain. Every win was bitter sweet for me that year. IMO there is nothing likeable about sanders.
I'm with you. Even in this game, there was a play where the Steelers had 3rd and 20, and they threw a short little pass to the back or a slot WR, and Deion did the biggest ole I've ever seen, letting the guy go right past him for a 19.5 yard gain. Pitt then went for it on 4th and got the 1st down.

One of my favorite Parcells lines was when we drafted Newman and the press asked him about the term "shutdown corner". He said to him, that meant a guy that wouldn't tackle. You know who he had in mind when he said that. :)

People need to stop hating on Deion. The guy singlehandly cost us at a chance for a 4-peat. He took alvin harper out of the game in the 94 NFC title game and made key pass deflections and an INT in the game where he out ran the freakin ball. Do you people think we sniff the bowl if sanders wasn't signed after kevin smith blew his achilles. Hate on sanders all you want, but he got the 49ers over the top in 94 and proved his worth in 95 with us. I could careless if he could tackle, he got paid to cover.

Bummer. Looks like the NFL Network is done showing this for now. I was really hoping to catch it. Anyone know if it is on Youtube or anything else?

BUT you could see the cracks in the Boys. depth, and some starters not as good as we had had before. Also, as Nate mentioned, discipline was starting to disapear and sooner or later that will come back to hurt.

True. I'm just glad we were able to squeak one more out before the total mismanagement of the team took full effect.

So it was sanders alone that won superbowls in 94 and 95 for sf and us..

Please. San Francisco went out and broke the bank on top tier free agents to get over the hump, to say it was sanders who did that alone is foolish. The guy contributed but if he was so great why couldnt he wave his magic wand in Atlanta? because he needed to be on a team with a cast of great characters so he could be the showboat and egomaniac that he is to win.

They signed ken norton jr, gary plummer, Rickey jackson, charles mann.

He is just the guy everyone remembers because did nothing but showboat and run his mouth.

The thing I remember most about this game, other than winning in the end of course, was how we so easily moved the ball up and down the field in the first half and jumped out to the 13-0 lead (Which, honestly, with the way we were moving the ball should have been even more) and yet we went into halftime with a 13-7 advantage and in a dog fight.

I remember thinking, when we got up 13-0, that we were on our way to cruising to yet another blow out victory.

The Steelers D was pretty tough= in the second half they pretty much shut down our running game. Not many teams were ever able to do that. BUT that just showed that our O line was not what it was.

I apparently didn't pay too much attention to this Super Bowl when it actually took place, but I got to see the replay last night.

Those two throws by Neil O'Donnell to Larry Brown were unbelievable. On both throws it looks like Brown is completely out of place and O'Donnell just throws them right to him.

Thank God. The Cowboys almost self-destructed in the second half. Losing to the Steelers in yet another Super Bowl would've been devastating. Have Brown or O'Donnell commented on what exactly they were thinking on those plays?

BTW, I feel sorry for Kordell Stewart. He was such a good athlete and he played that 'Slash' position so well. When he went to full-time QB it was just too much pressure. He could've played at a high-level for years if he hadn't had to play QB.

I remember Mike Irvin saying it was a miracle they even played that good because they partied so hard all week before the Superbowl.

It is interesting to note that on both INTs, the Steelers wideouts ran staggered "In" routes, while O'Donnell threw the ball like at least one was supposed to have been an "Out" route. I will give Neil some slack on the first pick, but to come right back and throw the exact same pic is unacceptable. If I remember right, Larry Brown had a shot at picking off Neil in late in the first half. Could have had the "Hat Trick"

My favorite memory from this game is on Emmitt's first carry. Larry Allen pancaked Greg Lloyd. It was sooooooooooooo sweet!

This Super Bowl was the least enjoyable of the 3 in the 90s. Maybe because we didn't dominate like I wanted us to. Or maybe deep down inside, I knew it was the end of our run. Michael Irvin ran around the sidelines in celebration after the game. A month later, he was busted in that hotel room. It was truly the beginning of the end.

I really think we would have dominated them if that Irvin TD was not called back for offensive pass interference in the 1st half. Instead of going up 17-0, we went up 13-0 and it was basically a victory for the Steelers and gave them confidence.

I agree that was the turning point.

I think that was a call that probably could've been a "no call". But Irvin had so much notoriety with the "push off". I think the officials were looking to call that as soon as they could.

The main thing I remember most about this game was that our secondary was hitting hard.

There is no team I would rather beat in the SB than Pittsburgh.

The first pick O'Donnell has said that the ball slipped out of his hands, and this is what I found on it.

On a play specifically designed for this Super Bowl, the Steelers lined up with three receivers to the right. In the past, two of those receivers had run slants to the middle while the third ran to the sideline. This time, all three ran slants and coordinator Ron Erhardt said Mills was so wide open that “if he caught it he’d still be running.” Instead O’Donnell’s pass slipped out of his hand and went directly to Cowboys cornerback Larry Brown, who had been frozen by Mills’ move and was covering nobody.

The second pick, they said O'Donnell threw the ball to a spot, expecting his guy to be there without looking and making sure first.

But the Steelers came out throwing. O’Donnell’s first pass was incomplete; the second was another one that went right to Larry Brown in a case of the quarterback throwing to a spot instead of holding the ball and making sure. Brown returned his second gift interception to the Steelers 6-yard line. Two plays later, Smith punched it over for the clinching touchdown in a game that would end, 27-17.
