Looks like football is done at Baylor. We’re back to our normal dormant place hoping for a miracle on the brazos. Lol

But seats are cheap and plentiful.

My baby brothers youngest daughter is considering Arkansas. They went there for an official visit. It’s where I wanted to go.
But at least you guys were in the hunt recently. The Hogs cant get out from under the porch.

Fayetteville is a great college town and more in the vein of small college towns, not like Austin and Baton Rouge. And that is the most beautiful part of the state. The Southeast and East is Of Mice and Men butt ugly but the Northwest is really nice.

There are so many Indiana and Michigan retirees in that part of the state they have Indianer and Michigander days for them.

I'm jealous ... I really wish we in Canada had single game sports betting. I'm assuming the Detroit Casinos will offer this, so that's where I'll go...

Right . The mob isn’t offering Brady or any QB more than his 100 million contract.

The salaries these guys are making has become too big for professional sports interference but not in Amateur sports and why the NCAA is much more concerned.
Sportsbooks don't take big bets on college basketball and CFB would be too hard to rig and easy to discover

If someone tried to make a 100k bet on Stony Brook vs Tulane on a Tuesday a million bells would go off

Having the Sportsbook legit makes it that much easier to stamp out fraud

To think, a shovel jockey that plows snow on occasion makes more than 20k over the national yearly pay of a teacher. That's me. My base pay is higher than that. That's without any holidays, overtime, or snow overtime. Teachers are probably the most underpaid, and under appreciated profession.
They only work 9 months though so it is not all that bad. But beyond that, the FACT is that lottery money is not helping schools. Where I live, almost every child gets a free breakfast and a free lunch. UNREAL right. All that tax money going to take care of other people's kids. 90% of kids here in Lee county get this. First off, when was it decided that schools need to feed kids breakfast? I went to school and breakfast was something you had at home not at school. I hate how school systems use our money. Giving them more through lotteries is dumb, if they even get any of it to begin with.

I only work about 8 months. Yes, I get that kind of vacation time. But yeah, I ate breakfast at home and paid for lunch. No money, no eat. I am really not sure how much things have changed since then. Maybe they're doing that in an attempt to justify tax dollars.

Not good news for Las Vegas or the mob.
Vegas is happy because they'll be the ones running the sportsbooks at their own casinos, Caesars has 10 outside of NV, as well as the others.

There are few casinos in the US that Vegas isn't involved in. When they became involved with Winstar, that's when it really took off. Nobody knows more about gaming and sportsbooks than Vegas.

I was in the sports book at Wynn Las Vegas when this decision came down. Odd timing, from a personal standpoint. Having spent time in England where there's a betting shop on every corner and sports fans have betting apps on their phones, I hope to have that same convenience in the near future. It's about time.

"Yeah, but what about corruption and paying off players?"

Right, because that would never happen now with the mob running betting rings in every major city already. Pro players aren't the issue - how do you bribe a millionaire? The issue is college players, but that's been an issue for years. If anything, more eyes will be watching now.

There defintely would be a red flag on a matchup like that but there’s billions wagered in March Madness.

But in small increments and everyone has all the same knowledge and info

The spotlight is so bright there are no hidden secrets

Some huge bet on a random midweek game in January would set off red flags

And like the other poster said.........mobsters have been making book for years and they have the same access now

Yep. And even the more reason why we won’t see much change because the bulk of wagering will still be conducted illegally.

Gambling, like all vices, is all about moderation. A cigar on your birthday is pleasant. A glass of wine with your evening meal is a nice addition. A 5 dollar wager on which player will score the first touchdown makes the game more interesting. Smoking 60 cigarettes a day and destroying your lungs isn't fun. Drinking a bottle of JD for breakfast everyday will do you no good. Gambling large amounts on a regular basis so you can't make your mortgage payment will ruin your life. The point is, if you have an addictive personality, you will find a way to self destruct whether betting on sports is legal or not.
