It never stopped Vegas just like Weed is still illegal on a federal level , yet states allow it .. what does this really change? so now all states can bet locally? maybe im ignorant to the law , didnt they have bets in vegas on every aspect of all sports, W/L scores by QTR , and final score? also the total score by both teams and what what the differential was?

wasn't there already many states allow to OTB etc?

All of our casinos are technically on river boats due to some law except for Margaritaville due to the land being “man made” so I am wondering how long before we jump on the sports betting bandwagon. We jumped on medical cannibus but haven’t went anywhere with it for example.
What state are you in?

OK is all Indian reservations on land. Most importantly no Vegas brand hotels. There are ran by Chickasaw and other tribes.

Louisiana has Vegas connections with Harrahs in New Orleans and Horseshoe in Shreveport which are more likely to implement sports betting. Smaller venues like in Lake Charles probably not Vegas connected.

Atlantic City is ready and connected. Should see sports books there almost immediately at some locations.

Tillman Fertitta(Rockets owner and Landrys CEO) is salavating right about now. He has been trying to get casinos in Galveston for 20+ years. I worked with him for awhile and he will turn Galveston into Vegas 2.0 if it comes to that point. Everything than man builds trumps what he previously built.

It will be interesting if this leads into casinos in the future in other states(Texas in particular).

Shreveport is technically on a river but you’d never know it
Atlantic City was grandfathered in
OK is loaded with Indian reservations
But not sure they have sports betting
There is some kind of gambling within An hour or so drive from almost anywhere
This opens up sports betting though I would think it could open up all types of hambling

don't throw good money after bad. you'll do far better in the stock market if you have a few working brain cells.
I used to day trade...key word used to. I made a lot and then began to lose it, so I jumped ship years back. You really have to do your homework, jsu like sports betting.

This is long overdue. I never understood how state lotteries could be legal, but sports gambling wasn't.
you can bet that many games will start being fixed. I hate this. Furthermore filing destroys many lives..

In the UK, you can literally place bets at the window outside the stadium before you walk into the game. This could very well be the case here soon, too.

Imagine what the TV screen will look like now. Fantasy football already junks it up.

And what must your 12-year-old son think?

Ginsberg and Sotomayer voted no.

Not what I would have predicted reading comments.

Because the state doesn’t get to keep any profits like they do in the state run lotteries.
Love how they always try to sell lotteries to voters with stuff like “the profits will go to the schools” yet all the schools still poormouth constantly and the teachers strike.

Oklahoma. Cough.

give em time, they'll screw it up on this side of the equation too

they'll probably tax it to death which will be more successful than prohibition.

I remember all the angst growing up about parimutuel betting on horses being illegal, it finally got legalized to the dismay of the baptists and now, from what I understand, the horse tracks are struggling to stay in biz

Yeah. You can't have sex standing up either because someone might think you are dancing.

There will be minimal effects on business in Vegas as there’s only a few places which will be in position to fully implement Vegas type sports betting venues .

Also , these new venues will need a place to lay off the unbalanced wagering and Vegas will most likely be the place and why it’s most likely to only be in states and casinos with Vegas or Nevada ties.

Not all Casinos in Vegas or Nevada have sports betting books and the same will be true across the country.
Sportsbooks make up less than 1% of all the money gambled in Vegas....it will have no effect

Their margins are razor thin as well ....around 5% of the take

Illegal bookies will still thrive because they extend credit and you don't have to report winnings to Uncle Sam

This is great for the small time bettor that wants some action but doesn't know a bookie and doesn't want to break the law

Winstar has had Vegas consultants since 2009 which is why it became the largest casino in the US. They hired them to take it to the next level and their greatest fear has been Texas would allow casino gambling but the Chickasaws have set themselves up to run casinos in DFW should Texas legalize it. They bought the race track in Grand Prairie because the feeling is video poker and some slots at the tracks is phase 1 and they want a leg up on the competition.
