So I guess nobody has the right to second guess "NFL professionals"? The forum just exploded.

That is the epitome of fan arrogance, ignorance and downright stupidity. Jerry Jones is the owner and GM. He has been associated with this franchise almost 2 decades through its ups and downs. Some of his past and future decisions did or may not pan out, but there is no denying that overall he has had a very beneficial effect on this franchise and the sport itself.

Keeping Jerry in line in the war room, backhandedly curbed by Wade and Ciskowski? Who are you to evaluate and diminish these NFL professionals? They are proven and have forged long term careers and relative to Jones, Philips and Ciskowski what have you done in that regard?

I get it, you feel you can pontificate because you too have a big job...is it washing elephants at the zoo?

That's kind of harsh.
It was just an opinion.
And opinions are what drive the Zone.

I find myself wondering what Jerra's next move will be.

A dramatic trade for a CB or RB?

A draft day stunner involving two drafts picks?

A blue-chip safety who can cover and hits like the Roy Williams of years past?

But when we talk about the guys we need to have to succeed, to take us to the playoffs, yea I say unto you the Super Bowl, we always ask ourselves what jerra might do. Somehow, Wade doesn't seem to enter the equation.http://img233.*************/img233/553/cupcakekz9.gif

It's always jerra/jerrah this and jerra/jerrah that.

Is this a bad this to you?
A good thing?

How do you feel about recent coaches (Parcells being the exception) taking such a low-profile and subservient role to Jerra in seemingly all matters personnel?

And lastly, if I may say, it's the offseason.

I think Wade is more invloved than you think. Jerry is the GM so no doubt the spotlight hits Jerry but I do think Jerry consults with his HC and others within the organization.

Do you really think Jerra involves Wade that much?

Jerra: Wade, this Zach Thomas looks awfully good. He'd be a bargain. What is your take on signing him?
Wade: Well, I . . . .
Jerra: Yeah, I think you are right again, Wade. Good talk.

Yes I do. I think Jerry is a smart man and understands from past mistakes. I think Wade's 40 some odd years of experiance in the NFL does play a role in what we do. I also think the head of Scouting plays a role in Jerry final say as well. No doubt in the end Jerry will take the heat for any mistakes, sad part is people like you will find others to give credit to when things go right.

Or everyone can give credit to Jerry for Jimmy and Bill's work and then blame someone else for Jerry's bad decisions.

Jerry does deserve some of the credit for the success of the team and the blame for the failures of the team. He is the GM no move is made without him agreeing to it. Jimmy was a very good HC and deserves a lot of credit for the job he did in Dallas but to act as if Jerry played no part as some have I feel is wrong.

On the other side Jerry has made mistake and has taken the full heat of those mistakes. I do think Jerry more than anyone understands his own mistakes and I do not think he will repeat this same mistakes.
I do think he is telling the truth when he has said that these move are made after debate with the HC and scouting director BP said the same thing when he was here that they would all sit down and debate personell moves. BP did not always get everything he wanted when he wanted Kevin Williams and the scouting people wanted Newman, Jerry sided with the scouting and we took Newman and there is no doubt in my mind that TO was not a subject that BP brought to the fore front

We can all second guess or disagree about decisions from a fan or forum member perspective. But condescending comments about keeping the owner in line in the war room and backhanded compliments about the staff are uncalled for especially when they are steeped in ignorance.

None of us are there to see how good or bad a job is being done, the level of quality of the the staff, etc.. We are not even qualified to evaluate them.
This is the same tired old refrain from certain members in the forum despite the progress or changes made in the organization.

Why are we not qualified? What's the criteria - being a successful oilman?

Truth is, when we have good people on board and Jerry listens to them we've been successful. Hopefully that will be the case now and in the future.

His prowess as an oilman may have financially landed Jerry the franchise about 20 years ago but he obviously has learned a thing or two about owning and running a successful franchise in the NFL. To the point he now spearheads committees because of his football credibility.

Name me one owner or gm that has never made a player acquisition or free agent mistake. Now your tongue in cheekness about Jerry listening to forum members is appreciated. However, if you are earnestly seriousness that would be scary.

I take the polar oppositive approach with Mr. Jones over the last half dozen years. This franchise is coming out of the doldrums. Jerry took understandable but unfortunate risks after the team cratered during free agency and the salary cap. However he is wisely not being desperate and reaching out to overpay mediocre free agents to cover team needs.

He is also listening to Wade on the defensive side of the ball at the very least. I do wish Jerry had not extended and higher compensated Roy Williams when his performance and attitude were starting to spring up flags. But it is easy to be a hot shot hindsighter.
