Surprise Cut... Who Do You Think Might Be?

Almost every year there is at least one surprise cut made. If you had to take a stab at who it will be this year, who would you say it is going to be?

Since I started this mess I'll go first. Sam Hurd. Not a huge surprise given he's the 4th WR at the most. Between him and Aaron Glenn. My reasoning is that for either one of them there are people behind them with more upside and they might be at the end of theirs.

I'll go along with Keith Davis. With Williams, Hamlin, and Watkins as a solid 3 Safetys, I think we will keep a developmental guy rather than Davis. He's an excellent STs player but not much as a Safety.

When I looked over the roster to see who could possibly be a surprise cut, I could only narrow it down to about 5 players. That's when you know you have a talented squad, when the main open position battle in training camp is most likely FULLBACK. My top 5 surprise cuts...

1. Aaron Glenn
2. Oliver Hoyte (b/c of his versatility at FB/ILB)
3. Sam Hurd
4. Martin Gramatica
5. Tyson Thompson

Elam, he did just as well as Davis on special teams and can't do any worse than Davis playing safety..............heck I couldn't play safety any worse than Davis. Davis was a Parcells guy, that no matter how bad he is, he has a spot on the team...........kind of like Vinny and Ward.

No doubt Hos. I'll add to that. I would be happy if Glenn, Thompson and Gramatica got the ax b/c IMO this would mean that the young CB's showed enough in camp, Nick Folk showed confidence and consistency in the kicking game, and Thompson became expendable b/c of Miles Austin and hopefully Alonzo Coleman/Jackie Battle. I would be disappointed if Hurd was cut though..

Two of the last 3 years the surprise cut has been a QB. There is a precedent.

Hurd wouldn't be that big of a surprise to me. His impact on the offensive side of the ball has been marginally better than Randal Williams.
