WOW, woodysgirl, where in the heck did you come up with that ideal out of left field, i think your totally wrong, no way that would happen
Surprise is usually the least likely, not necessarily a fringe player, but I'll go with McQuistan first. They draft two OL in the mid-rounds, he's gotta be worried.
First in response to your Mcquistan getting cut, no way. He is right now starting LOT, and Jerry Jones has said they had plans to play him at LOG, and we all know that Flozell will be gone next year. So that leaves your only backup after Flozell would be gone are Free and Marten, and most likely Columbo will be gone in 2 years after his contract expires, with McQuistan, Free and Marten taking over, most likely McQuistan will play LOG, or Free in 2-3 years, with the other one playing LOT. Marten will play ROT in 3 years.
and I would go out on a long limb and say Burnett... Unmet potential can only take you so far. But, it would be a surprise, right? Realistically, I think he gets another year, but anything after that would be questionable.
Now, you might have something with Burnett, I am not saying that, but I am thinking that Burnett will be the 3rd down ILB with Carpenter on pass defense, along with Burnett playing special teams. With the Cowboys now playing 3-4 defense, you have to have about 8 linebackers or more as bulk of your 3-4. Those players linebackers are Ware, Spencer, (Ellis most likely will be gone next year, his contract gets way up there next year, and he will be 33 i think), James, Odoyle, Burnett, Carpenter, (hoyte can play 2 positions FB and ILB), thats 8 linebackers with ellis playing this year. You need a speed linebacker in the 3-4 defense with wade phillips style, and burnett is one of the fastest linebackers that we have next to Ware, I think Burnett is faster than Ware, not totally sure, but real close in speed to each other, you need a fast linebacker to cover on pass defense, and burnett is one of our best at doing that, got to remember, now most of the time Ware will be rushing, whom is going to cover like ware did, i think burnett and carpenter. Just my opinion. I am not knocking you, you have right to your opinion and thoughts, but just no way i see McQuistan and Burnett getting cut.
Another thing about McQuistan, who sprung Miles Austin free on that kickoff return against Seattle. It was McQuistan, he leaped and dove at a defender knocking him down all 6-6 310 pounds of him with 5.16 speed in the 40, you just dont have big OT or guys that could play OG with that size and speed usually. McQuistan is a name you will hear real soon as an up and coming player, believe it, you heard it here first, only way he doesnt, he gets hurt with a serious injury.
