Hurd is the first name I thought of, but I hope it doesn't come to pass. Hey, I made a pun.

Greg Ellis

Probably wont be as effective coming off the achilles injury, and can't play the OLB spot.

With a new staff, they should have no conscience about cutting him.

I think that Tyson Thompson will be traded, if coleman or jackie battle show anything, what the cowboys will do, let him run when defenses are tired in 3-4th quarter, then let him return kicks, if he breaks one, then he has trade value,

aaron glenn might be cut, but I think the player we are not thinking about might be Isiah Stanback, remember now he is having to wear shin splints now, thats not a good sign, what the cowboys might do is put him on PUB list, that way, let him get fully well, and bring him back during the season.

if the cowboys do put stanback on pub, then that probably means hurd will make the team, at least for awhile to show if he has anything to help the team during the season, because he is a good special teams player

i wouldnt be surprised if Polite gets cut, because I think anderson and hoyte will make the team, Hoyte can also play MLB or ILB on certain goal line situations and 3rd and 1 or so, he is one of the biggest linebackers we have since most of them dropped weight to be more faster for wade phillps new defense.

you just might, you just might see during the season if McQuistan, Proctor, Free and Marten come on, you might see Kosier traded for a need position like backup NT, or backup QB if brad johnson doesnt make the team, i think johnson will make the team, but im not real hot on him for us.

Surprise is usually the least likely, not necessarily a fringe player, but I'll go with McQuistan first. They draft two OL in the mid-rounds, he's gotta be worried.

and I would go out on a long limb and say Burnett... Unmet potential can only take you so far. But, it would be a surprise, right? Realistically, I think he gets another year, but anything after that would be questionable.

If it were Parcells, I would honestly say Marcus Spears. But I think that Wade gives him another year. Hurd might be gone, maybe Thomson, but neither of these guys are good players that would be too very shocking.

I would NOT be surprised to see either Gramatica or Brad Johnson cut, in fact I'm hoping for it to happen.

WOW, woodysgirl, where in the heck did you come up with that ideal out of left field, i think your totally wrong, no way that would happen

Surprise is usually the least likely, not necessarily a fringe player, but I'll go with McQuistan first. They draft two OL in the mid-rounds, he's gotta be worried.

First in response to your Mcquistan getting cut, no way. He is right now starting LOT, and Jerry Jones has said they had plans to play him at LOG, and we all know that Flozell will be gone next year. So that leaves your only backup after Flozell would be gone are Free and Marten, and most likely Columbo will be gone in 2 years after his contract expires, with McQuistan, Free and Marten taking over, most likely McQuistan will play LOG, or Free in 2-3 years, with the other one playing LOT. Marten will play ROT in 3 years.

and I would go out on a long limb and say Burnett... Unmet potential can only take you so far. But, it would be a surprise, right? Realistically, I think he gets another year, but anything after that would be questionable.

Now, you might have something with Burnett, I am not saying that, but I am thinking that Burnett will be the 3rd down ILB with Carpenter on pass defense, along with Burnett playing special teams. With the Cowboys now playing 3-4 defense, you have to have about 8 linebackers or more as bulk of your 3-4. Those players linebackers are Ware, Spencer, (Ellis most likely will be gone next year, his contract gets way up there next year, and he will be 33 i think), James, Odoyle, Burnett, Carpenter, (hoyte can play 2 positions FB and ILB), thats 8 linebackers with ellis playing this year. You need a speed linebacker in the 3-4 defense with wade phillips style, and burnett is one of the fastest linebackers that we have next to Ware, I think Burnett is faster than Ware, not totally sure, but real close in speed to each other, you need a fast linebacker to cover on pass defense, and burnett is one of our best at doing that, got to remember, now most of the time Ware will be rushing, whom is going to cover like ware did, i think burnett and carpenter. Just my opinion. I am not knocking you, you have right to your opinion and thoughts, but just no way i see McQuistan and Burnett getting cut.

Another thing about McQuistan, who sprung Miles Austin free on that kickoff return against Seattle. It was McQuistan, he leaped and dove at a defender knocking him down all 6-6 310 pounds of him with 5.16 speed in the 40, you just dont have big OT or guys that could play OG with that size and speed usually. McQuistan is a name you will hear real soon as an up and coming player, believe it, you heard it here first, only way he doesnt, he gets hurt with a serious injury.

cowboyjoe,

In response to all that... did they not cut Rob Petitti last year in the last cut down...ya know the 2005 starting right tackle? It's not that far out of left field as you think. One big play doesn't guarantee a roster spot. Ask Woody Dantzler. Maybe he's still tip-toeing down the arena league's sideline.

As for Burnett, I was just throwing a name out there. I don't really see him getting cut...but like I said, it would certainly be a surprise.

One of the CBs. Nate Jones or Reeves. I don't know if it would be a real surprise.

One history-setting big play doesn't break a record. Randal Williams - Fastest scoring TD in league history or some such.
