Not a surprise to everyone, but I think many on this board will be surprised, probably because we have too many favorites, drink too much kool-aide, and eat too much of the cheese.

Predictions:

Quincy Morgan...cut.

Tom Crowder also cut...no way to justify keeping him.

Thomas Johnson...cut...probably stashed on P.S. (don't eat the cheese)
Sorry, but with Ferguson's situation, have to keep Carson

Keith O'Neil...cut.

Izell Reese...cut.

Tyson Thompson...cut...stashed on P.S. (don't eat the cheese)

Tyson Walter...cut.

Jeff Robinson...cut...Condo makes team.

***************************************

Pierce and Ryan both make the team.

Pettitti and Tucker both make the team.

Merritt and Copper both make the team.

I've been eating some of the cheese as well, but the reason you have a practice squad is for the undrafted FA's who don't make it to #1 or #2 at their positions...you just can't afford to keep them on the 53 man roster if they're not going to earn playing time...we need the special teams players from the secondary, WR's, and LB's. I'll be shocked if most of our cuts don't clear waivers...remember, other teams will be making tough cuts with their guys too, not looking to take up room on their 53 man rosters with developmental players like our RB and D-lineman...they'd love to put these guys on their practice squads, but we should be able to bring back anyone we want.

Tyson Thompson won't get cut, and cheese has nothing to do with it.

So do you expect him to ever get in a game this year at RB?
Do you think he's shown anything in the KO return game or as a gunner on special teams?

Or do you think we'll use up that spot just so he's around in future years?

I hope he does make it, but I think he'll have to make it by turning it up on special teams.

i might be wrong but i wouldn't be surprised if the a-train gets cut simply because bill said he wanted to see something from him on special teams.

now having said that i'd be surprised if they did cut him simply because we have 2 rookies behind him

Based on this week, i would agree, but I haven't forgotten how poorly Condo deep snapped last game. If it happens, it will be final cuts. Condo will have to prove he can be the weapon Robinson is in goalline and can snap with consistency.

(Note - don't forget that Robinson is a ProBowler)

I don't think there's all that much to A-Train...nothing really special, but he's a tough runner, a grind it out type guy, and he showed some moves in the hole inside last night on his big series.

MB3 has more upside, but at this point, the way we're relying on the running game, I'd choke up a nervous hairball if we cut A-Train...I think he's #2, and MB3 still has to prove he's ready for PT. I don't see Tyson Thompson getting the ball in a game, not unless Parcells has really changed his stripes.

I'd be happy to see Thompson start looking like Rashard Lee on KO returns though...because he has all the upside long term.

I agree that Condo has to snap like he did last night from here on out to make the team, but I don't think goalline will have much to do with it...if we carry all the TE's I think we'll carry, Robinson won't be in the game on short yardage anyway.

A-Train is a BP special - don;t kid yourself. This has made the club already - BP loves plodders i.e O.J. Anderson - he sees A-Train as a mudder a perfect change of pace hammer guy - Lock it down he's a 16 Game Cowboy.

wm...I would ordinarly agree with you about Tyson Thompson getting cut and subsequently being stashed on the practice squad, but I think there's been too much positive national press from ESPN and other media outlets about him.

Forget the cheese for a minute...I think Bill likes the guy and doesn't want to gamble losing him like he did Dantzler. I think not playing him last night was deliberate attempt to lower his profile. JMO.

Merritt and Copper both make the team.

I would agree on this one, but Merritt I hear...is hurt from last nights game and an injury could come between him and a spot on the roster with only two games left in preseason.

but I like your way of thinking....I believe your on the right track...:D

everything else looks about right to me...:star:

That locks it, A-train is toast.

Don't discount that we used last night to drum up some interest for Thomas from other teams, as well.;)

The thought did cross my mind BZ, but I think A-train makes this team. I can't see Parcells going into the season without any experience behind Julius Jones. Barber didn't help himself with the fumble either, but we all know he makes the team.
I guess we'll see how it plays out.

I think Thomas makes the team as that change of pace guy Parcells talked about. He's really the only one we have.

I think Crowder has to go, but will be on the practice squad while they try to develope his receiver skills.

I would love to see Morgan cut, but I don't think they will. You never know though, Parcells cut Dedric Ward last season.

You are the one eating the cheese if you think this guy makes it to the practice squad

From what I saw, Thomas plodded like Eddie George. He turns 8 yard runs into 3 yard runs and TDs into 15 yarders.

I think Parcells learned his lesson about "experienced" backs last year.

I said before the game that all that will save him is if Barber and Thompson start fumbling or missing blitz pick ups. Barber might have opened the door.

you and I saw the exact same thing and had the exact same thought.

The guy was always 2 steps away from being able to break the corner. He simply does not have the speed IMO. And I did not see that he had that much power. He is big...but I have not seen his size translate into consistant 3+ yard gains in traffic.

He did make some nice gains last night when the hole was huge...and it was in the middle. But he is not able to get to the hole quickly...and he does not have the speed to take advantage of the hole that develop on the outside.
