I don't know what you mean by "their charitable designation" but the Kaepernick case is not going to consider any of the unrelated lawsuits. (My suspicion is you think the NFL is designated as a charity because they used to have status as a non-profit entity, but even that no longer applies as the NFL got rid of their non-profit designation 2 years ago)

The main reason I have no doubt the CBA is safe is because the process to invalidate a CBA would take years of arbitration, appeals, court filings, more appeals, etc. This current CBA only has 4 years left anyway, and a proceeding to invalidate it would take at least that long if one particular side were interested in dragging the whole thing out.

This is what I meant and thank you for the clarification. I am curious as to why they got rid of that 2 years ago. I vaguely remember there being talk about them violating antitrust laws? Could that be at play? Bottom line IMO all these lawsuits are just not a good look.

No it is Mark Geragos as his lawyer ..... he is the opposite of a small law firm......... he is pseudo celeb big shot.... a Gloria Aldred type...... he is probably doing this pro bono for the exposure

Kap just wants his 15 minutes to continue

Yeah, in that case its purely about Geragos wanting more time on camera and Kaepernick wanting... whatever it is that he wants.

The league office was designated a non-profit entity because it is indeed a non-profit entity. No individual or publicly held corporation owns the league office. No one takes profits from the league office (yes I know the employees get paid obscene amounts of money, but that is salary and not profits). Please note that I said the league office and not "the league." The individual 32 franchises are not non-profit entities.

So why did they get rid of it? Officially no one really knows but the some consensus is that as a non-profit entity, they have to release their financials to the public and they were simply tired of doing that for so little gain.

Exactly....they didn't want to disclose the obscene salaries that you spoke of..... that is the major reason

People are making a huge mistake if they think the Cowboys don't pay taxes on their 100m's in revenue...... the League office always distributed any income equally amongst the teams after 'expenses' of the NY offices

No way I can give Zeke a 2nd contract with him already serving a 6 game suspension in just his 2nd year. If we finish with a top 5 pick I'm drafting Saquon Barkley. The NFL will suspend Zeke for anything now especially after he admitted to using some pretty serious drugs in college.

I don't think you can trust him in the offseason.

we need defense not offense, there its a very good defense players in the next draft like, Arden Key DE, Harold Landry OLB, Derwin James SS, Christian Wilkins DT. no kidding man!!

Greg Ellis was good too, but he wasn't Randy Moss.

I do believe the NFL/CBA will be under scrutiny, because of the lawsuits. They should lose their charitable designation IMO. Never understood it. All Goodell and the NFL are doing is shining light where they don't want it. It can't be a good look, and the more the fight the more they look guilty IMO. Personally think Kap sucks as a QB, but there needs to be changes made to the league, CBA.
I believe they "lost" that charitable tax status in 2015 by the Commissioners direction, as it amounted to about 108 million AND that's where I came up with the projected revenue of 14 Billion posted earlier while delving deeper into the rabbit holeo_O

I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that hopes Zeke loses today, serves his suspension, comes back for the last five games, and gets on with life.

I don't care about the politics of it, I'm not talking politics. I just want the corruption removed from my football which I see coming out of the Commissioner's office. If the CBA gave that man too much power then the CBA should be revoked and renegotiated.

Like your take... Feels like a scratch my back, I scratch yours type of deal..

i.e. We have a problem with all this off field stuff.... response... you wet our beaks enough, and you can do what you want, whenever you want.. Empty heads didn't think of cases where legal system says one thing and NFL just decides to do something else...

And joe mixon continues to play...

Right? This is what irks me even more. Here is a guy who WAS charged, had video evidence on him, and yet nothing from the NFL. However, Zeke has this gigantic target on his back for something he never was even charged with. It's absolutely asinine.

I don't see any protests of Cincy games though...... the NFL goes overboard to send a message no one is interested in anymore..... the in protest changes weekly

The media would hound the coaches and player constantly if a team signed him. It wouldn't just be the sport media but all the media knuckleheads would want to be a part of it.

The bigger issue is that he is not very good.

Kaepernick proved to be too dumb to be a good QB. Much like RG3 and those types where athletic ability can't overcome being a moron.

Cutler isn't a moron?
