This could all be an effort to land a future book deal. There are a tiny number of professional sports team athletes who retired, were inducted into their sports' Hall of Fame, unretired, and played competitively again.

Major League Baseball Hall of Famer Jim Palmer attempted a comeback the year following his 1990 induction but was injured in spring training ( link ). A handful of National Hockey League Hall of Famers unretired and played like Mario Lemieux ( link | retired 1997/played again in 2000 ).

Will Terrell Owens gain any measure of post-Hall of Fame on-the-field notoriety that he might be able to capitalize upon financially? Or will this all end as a mere forgettable footnote in NFL history? Stay tuned.

Grew up an Orioles fan. Still have a ball Jim Palmer autographed for me in May 1983.

bringing a guy who has been out of football for over 5 years, is almost 50 and you don't think that's a circus!!!! we are getting ready for playoffs. do we need a circus? do we need distraction? Hilton was a FA, with less than a year out of football and he never had any circus around him....come on now....

Doesn't he play some kind of football? Even if he could play, how many hits can a 50 year old take out there?

As far as a circus goes, I don't have any control over that.

HMMM I must not have been good in math So Dez was born November 4th,1988 and you say he's 32 years old?

While we are here, Terrell Owens was born on December 7th 1973 and you say he's 32 years old?

Google can be your friend before you reply.... LOL

what I mean is athletes start to decline when they turn 32.

age gets us all man.

I wish I was an athletic freak like him at 49, but "stop the madness!"

You can still be a freak athlete at 49 but your body cannot absorb those hits any longer. Wouldn't even last 6 games before he was out with injury.
