I was also wondering....what was the point of doing that piece now? I'm not a whiner, but it struck me that ESPN was just TRYING to stir up some controversy.

I didn't really care for that so much.

that was a tired interview, but Tom Jackson made some great points.. T.O. annoyed me in that one...

It wasn't as bad as it could have been.

It was just as you say..'annoying'..annoying that at this time this clown is looking for personal attention that his play has not merited, and does it with whining on national tv...not by making game winning plays.

But it could have been FAR worse.

I see it as a blessing he didn't start crying or call Haley out.

Hopefully now he's bared his sorry soul once more before the world, he'll shut up for the next few weeks.

I actually pity Owens. He's an emotional mess. Great player but an emotional wreck. I doubt Parcells really cares what comes out of his mouth at this point. Just get out there on the field catch some balls and command double coverage so someone else can get open
But if you're dropping passes because you're not into the game, it's time to go.

Oh they're definitely trying to stir stuff up. They haven't heard from TO since Romo came in, and they were needing drama. That said, TO wanted it too. He doesn't like NOT being talked about.

I don't think this will have any effect though. You know BP didn't watch it. he's going to get questions about it tomorrow, but he'll just say he didn't see it, can't comment, etc.

I'd be surprised if anything comes of it.

Here's my thing:

He complains about things not being kept in-house... and he's doing it on national TV for all of the country to hear. Yeah, he's not mentioning an individuals name... but it's still Dallas Cowboy business and if he has complaints about it... then do it in-house... just like he wanted his stuff brought up.

I don't think it'll cause any problems, but still... Like LTN says, we're in the middle of a playoff run and maybe more. Just talk to the coaches and let someone else do the interviews untill business is finished.

but this guy opens him mouth and you call for him to be cut.
Who called for him to be "cut"?

He's needed this year.

But his contract was written so that it is essentially separate year deals.

I sure will be calling for it the minute the season ends.

And my guess is Bill will be too.

You just called for him to be cut. He's the best receiver on the team. If we can find someone to replace him, I'm all for it. I don't see how we could find someone, though. Otherwise, his occasional mouth-off is certainly worth the production on field.

If we get a near miss... i.e lose the Super Bowl, I think it'd be pretty hard for JJ to say, "Yeah we ned to cut him."

Bill may or may not be calling for it, depending on what happens in the playoffs. If we win it, it could be easier to cut him. Just my $.02

If ANYONE else, ANYONE else went on national tv and said what Owens just said, which paraphrased is "I am not into the game and am dropping passes because I am not 'happy'", he'd be pilloried all up and down this board, and on any other forum on any other team as well.

If a 25 million dollar contract isn't enough to 'get you into it', then playing for the team you supposedly wish you had always been a part of would.

But it's just typical Owens - he is selfish to the core, and his crybaby emotional venting takes precedence over a playoff run.

"Betrayed".

Get off the cross, Owens.

You're no martyr.

Pitiful.

ON THE NOSEY.

What a headcase and disgrace this guy can me.

Fine. Football stuff. Fine...drama..fine..who cares. It's all entertainment.

BUT the disgrace of trying to frame his "struggles" (does he struggle when he's going to the bank?) all self created, self imposed might I add, within the context of the philosopy of Martin Luther King, is about as disgusting as it gets.

And that smile, man oh man, someone should slap that off his face.

This is sad for me. For a player to say he didn't listen to the Parcells' championship speech, and then say he misses balls because he's not into the game is inexcusable and I have been one of the biggest supporters of TO out there.

Draft priority, trade whatever's necessary to get Calvin Johnson.

100% agree!
Romo and Johnson for years to come, that would be sweet.

It is really sad that after all he has been thru that he still doesnt get it. I have been a fan of his and was ecstatic when they got him and became his biggest supporter. But I think with that interview he just lost the majority of his supporters because you dont throw B.P. under the bus like that and think you have more clout than he does.

I wont compare it to McNabb but T.O. you just killed your remaining 15 million reasons to shut up.

To think he is whining about how all this attention is the reasons for his drops or how B.P. did ask about his well being or how he didnt listen to a speech cause he was thinking about partying. Please! Your other teammates didnt go cause they actually listen to parcells and dont wont to get caught up in stuff. Its the season and too much is on the line and all you can think about is your birthday party.

Man, save the drama for your mama! If parcell stays then t.o. will be gone!

"Pitiful" is precisely what it's not. Think it was you, LTN, that proferred the theory a couple of years back (when T.O was waging a public war on McNabb) that this guy had real psychological issues. It rang true at the time. And it continues to do so. In fact, the passage of time seems only to have helped render the diagnosis specific: this guy's a sociopath.

Like all sociopaths he's incapable of interconnectedness, which is why it's so easy for him to throw his own teammates under the bus, or try to embarass his coach. Like all sociopaths he's incapable of responsibility: surely the drops aren't his fault; they're the on-the-field manifestation of his deep sense of betrayal. And like all sociopaths his hallmark dissemblance is an appeal to our sense of pity. This interview may not have been as poignant as the tearfilled personal history he gave several years back, complete with character references from his sweet old grandmother. But its intentions were just as clear: T.O. wants us to pity him so that we'll overlook his dispicable off-field conduct. I refuse to play into his hands by describing anything in relation to him as "pitiful". And as I'm certain, LTN, that this is not what you intended--that is, you did not intend to suggest that T.O. is deserving of pity-- I'd gently suggest that you change your descriptor.

Is this an old interview or what? I thought all was well in Big D

They are ALL "old" interviews when it comes to Owens.

If you've heard him speak once, you've heard him speak a thousand times.

TO is a narcissistic man-child. He was probably upset that only a couple other Cowboys showed up to his birthday party. I don't think he can divide the locker room because I think the vast majority of the players are with Bill.

I would be surprised if he is back next year, especially if Bill comes back.

One thing is for sure, TO is no Michael Irvin.

i think the real question here is....

is his production worth the headaches....it seems like he's been a distraction at times this season but have we played like it? has the team been affected by it? i really don't think so...

I for one am getting tired of the whole TO situation but the fact is he's still having a pretty good season...it's realistic that he could reach 1000 yards today. we're in 1st place and with a little luck, we could grab a first round bye...

90% of the board would have taken that scenario at the start of the season...

They cut out some other negative stuff he was saying in that interview as well.

Like I said Jerry Jones biggest mistake when signing TO is he didn't hire a designated *** kisser to keep him happy... all TO needs in a ban going around playing some kind of theme music for him and a guy in his corner like Ali had yelling how he is the GREATEST of all time that should keep him happy... for a few weeks anyway.

This too shall pass, but Juke, this idiot just put more pressure on himself.

If he drops even ONE pass now, the fans are going to boo him to high heavens.

Irvin didn't do to good of a job helping T.O.'s cause either when he brought up the best thing Parcells told T.O. :

"After the Jacksonville loss, he told him.. You're ok.. and you know what T.O. said it made (his head get big) his chest get big and I felt tall as a mountain"

What the heck did that have to do with anything? That's the best thing he's learned this season after all of this drama from Philly up until now? Oh well..
