Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens (81) celebrates scoring a touchdown during the third quarter of an NFL football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Irving, Texas, Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, in Irving, Texas. Owens deposited the ball into one of the Salvation Army red kettles being used as a prop for the charity's annual holiday fund-raising campaign. The Cowboys won 38-10.

I liked that celebration - now I want to hear that the SA auctioned the ball off and 10,000 families plus got a Christmas turkey from it.
Let's see which Dallas area business steps up. They could buy the ball and display it for their customers, and everybody wins.

Unfortunatly, You won't hear a word if thats the case.
Nothing positive comes from what T.O. does and it's BS.
But I would like to think someone uses his head and tries to do it.

TO did nothing outside of the rules. The NFL says a player can celebrate alone. He did just that.
You can't use the ball as a prop, which I guess you can say he did. Still, I have a difficult time believing that he could be fined for this one.

I really do believe that T.O.'s TD celebration of "donating" the ball to the big Salvation Army pot was the classiest TD celebration the NFL has ever seen! The Salvation Army provides a great charity during the holidays and always kicks off their Winter campaign off in Dallas on Thnaksgiving. T.O. played nicely into that theme with his TD celebration and the move was very selfless and team-oriented. It's too bad the T.O. haters will never acknowledge this, but &^%$# them for not admitting what must be acknowleded - that this was the classiest TD celebration ever. I'm very proud of T.O. for it.

I liked the celebration too.

I wonder if the Salvation Army can auction the ball off to raise money for charity?

That would make the "donation" even that much more important and significant.

If by classiest you mean: attempting to draw attention to himself because he loves the spotlight, than yes. If it was classy he would have donated it after the game when all the cameras were not on. If you could see past your man crush on TO you would probably realise this.

i think that at the very least the celebration might get cowboys fans who otherwise would have ignored the kettles in front of wal mart to actually donate some money

Ordinarily, I'd agree with you.

But look at it this way: the whole world (I'm exaggerating but you get my point) saw TO donate that football to the Salvation Army bucket. Now imagine if the Salvation Army auctions that ball to raise money for children at Christmas time. The display on television makes that ball even more profitable.

Now, I don't know whether TO thought of all this when he made that donation. But if he did, this is one time where his mugging for the cameras was put to good use.

Actually, I disagree. ever since the Washington celebration where he used the ball as a pillow - and actually after Parcells talke to T.O. about it - T.O. publically said that it would be important for him to restrict his celbrations to the kind that would not hurt the team. So i really do think he thought this would be a godd type of celebration and that's why he did it. To reduce it down to "he was just trying to be creative" is shortsighted, and not giving credit where credit is due.

Honestly, my complaints of Owens' behavior are minimal.

Since that nap celebration, he's been like every other player out there on the field. Didn't celebrate his TD against Arizona. Didn't complain he wasn't being thrown all the passes in crunch time against Indianapolis. And, frankly, didn't really try to draw that much attention to him today, either, despite the big stage.

I'm glad T.O. is a Cowboy. I really am.
