poetic justice...Owens gets cut today, then finds out Friday morning he's been claimed on waivers by the Houston Texans or NY Jets

absolutely hilarious if it happened

This doesn't say that the Eagles are going to have to play him, this says that the Eagles might be forced to provide him access to team facilities. That's the worst thing that could happen from the Eagles' perspective.

Imagine Owens knowing he won't see the field but attending practices, working out in the weight room, seeing the trainers. And you thought he was a "distraction" before.

Let's say he does get released. Whoever picks him up on waivers has to assume his current contract right? They would have to have available cap room to claim him. If he clears waivers, then it is a "highest-bidder" situation, correct?

You are correct.

I totally disagree D-blue. IMO, he is undercontract with them. They are paying him and they should have the ability to decide if they will play him or not.

I usually side with the player in issues with management, but in this case, I think the Eagles are right. They should be able to suspend him for the 4 games and leave him inactive for the remaining games.

Should David Carr of the Texans start acting a fool so that he can be released and maybe a team with a good o-line will pick him up? Where does it end?

He's not good enough to act a fool and get a decent job somewhere in spite of that. I see what you're saying, but I guess I am on the fence a little, I agree with you, but I also dont think you keep a guy like TO on the sidelines just because you want to. TO could make better money somewhere else, maybe, and the eagles dont want him to go somewhere that can come back to haunt them. I see error on all parties........

man, the guy skates out of Philly and gets another pay check as he signs with another team to dismantle. Man, what a victory for TO. What a loss for Humanity sake. No wonder this world is so messed up. TO proves the point, cry your way to get what you want. America is going downhill fast. What a message to send to kids.

Yeah, the little b**** keeps on getting his way (first, he doesn't want to go to Baltimore, and the league accomodates him, now they let him get what he wants from Philly), and some of you think he'll suddenly straighten up and fly right??

Why in God's name SHOULD he, when he keeps on getting away with murder??

I repeat, anybody who wants the Cowboys to bring in TO, either for the rest of the season or in the future, is a freakin' IDIOT...

This will make it interesting to be sure.
Some team will clamin him if only to block others in the playoff hunt.

He's due only 3.75 mil this year so anyone theoretically could claim him and own his rights for that price.
I know other teams dont wanna see him end up in ATL or other potential playoff spots screwing up their own playoff chances.

Interesting to be sure.

Since it would be a waiver wire deal TO would be locked into the contract he so hates and other nice intracacies as well.

Were I a GM I might be tempted to claim him with promises of a renegotiated contract then cut him after the season, lol..

The best thing for Dallas if Owens is released is that his signing bonus is accelerated into this season's cap, keeping the Eagles from using the LTBE loophole with their extra cap space.

They're in great shape with the cap, but every little bit helps.

I'd hit the floor laughing... of course, Owens would yelp that he didn't want to go there, and the league would give him his way again...

The real loser in this situation is the NFL's brass, they will destroy their credibility if they let Owens have his way...

Whoever would pick him up would actually be getting a good bargin. He is under contract for 5 more years at a cheap price. The signing bonus was at least 20% of his total contract, which has already been paid.

Jets or Texans would be perfect...lol

That would be the funniest thing ever... Please, please let him get picked up by the Jets and let him try to catch wobblers from Brooks Bollinger (or whoever else their QB stiff of the week is)... :laugh2:

Does he not have to agree to go to the team as well? I can't see him wanting to go to anybody without hopes of getting into the playoffs.

If they claim him on waivers...they own his contract.

He has to clear waivers before he has a choice of what team he goes to.

Now...if a team claims him and he does not want to play for them...he can just refuse to show up and play, but then he would be fined as they own his contract.

That is precisely why a bottom dweller like New York is likely to shy away.

The interesting part is not whether or not they release him, but to see if anyone in their right mind will pick him up off the waiver wire.

And by interesting, I mean Jerry Jones should be castrated if he even think sabout it

Yeah, Carr was not a good example, he was the 1st person to come to mind.

I have to tell you, I just can't find any fault with the Eagles management in this case. I think it all falls on T.O.

I think once a guy signs the contract with that team, it is totally up to them, if he plays or not.

I have no problem with that. I have a problem with players putting themselves above the team. That is what Owens has done. I don't think he should be rewarded by forcing the team to release him.

I guess we'll all know more in about an hour. If Richard Bloch is true to his word anyway.

Wonder if the speculation is true or not?

If there is going to be a PC I may have to take an early lunch and go listen.

It's not worth then for a rubbish team then is it? Not worth any hassle for them if he will fight to go to another team - I think he will try his best to get near a team with a chance of the playoff's.

Imagine he came here and the mood of the team sank.

Why am I having nightmares that Terrell Owens might be lining up in silver and blue?

Why did Jerry have to even entertain the idea? Hopefully it was to bluff Washington or Green Bay into spending more for his services.

Nobody has to spend more. They simply assume his contract from what I understand.

And what good would it do to get Green Bay to bite? They are finished for the season anyways.
