man, the guy skates out of Philly and gets another pay check as he signs with another team to dismantle. Man, what a victory for TO. What a loss for Humanity sake. No wonder this world is so messed up. TO proves the point, cry your way to get what you want. America is going downhill fast. What a message to send to kids.

I would put the Stupid Eagles away.

This is a smart move on their part.
Take apart another team - this year.
Without even lining up against them.

Lets back up a minute. Are we sure this guy is correct and TO will have to go through waivers if released? I remember talking about this just last week and it was stated then that because of his veteran status, he was not subject to the waiver process and becomes an unrestricted free agent if released. Can anyone confirm the waiver wire rules on this?

What's it going to be then, eh?

Yes, he absolutely will have to go through waivers first.

Why would someone pick him up just to trade him?

That hits the cap twice.

Actually not Hos, if a team was to pick him up this year, then trade him after the season is over, but before the March roster bonus. Then they would only have to pay him this year the pro-rated portion of this years salary...which would as of now 6/16's of this years salary, which I think is small anyhow.

Of course, what you could get for him would probably be minimal, due to the fact that he has a roster bonus of around 6 million in March.

Whatever team get him this year would get a great bargin. If you were planning on releasing him before March...Or you could pay the 6 million in March and keep him, but if you tarded him after that you would eat that 6 million...

Okay, everybody confused now !!!

Here is where I wish Adam would step in and tell us exactly what's up.

I thought the team that picked him up only had to pay him vet minimum.
The Eagles pay the rest of this years contract.

NEW YORK (Ticker) - Terrell Owens may get his wish after all.

According to a report in Newsday, arbitrator Richard Bloch is expected to reduce Owens' four-game suspension from four games to one or two games later Wednesday.

Owens was suspended four games by Reid for conduct detrimental to the team November 9. The NFL Players Association is seeking to have the suspension reduced and wants the Eagles to cut Owens if they have no intention of playing him again.

The report indicates that the Eagles, who planned to de-activate Owens for the remainder of the season, will release the mercurial superstar receiver instead. Philadelphia is concerned that Owens will cause a distraction if the ruling allows him to return to the Eagles' practice facility.

Owens has stated all along that he wants to return to the Eagles, but would want to be released if Philadelphia didn't plan to play him. If released, Owens would go through the league's waiver system, with the worst team getting the first shot of claiming him.

Owens is making a base salary of $3.75 million this season.

Sounds like TO has a law suit against the Eagles too. I would think if they suspended him without justification, he's probably gonna get a $20MM settlement from them too. Let's hope that counts against their cap.

Wrong

Sign him you assume this years salary. You trade him before March 1 SB - Some team might try and renegotiate the deal in a trade.

If no takers - cut him. No double hit. You are simply assuming the remainder of this years salary.

The NFL won't make him go through waivers. As it is, they will be trying to avoid a $20MM lawsuit for letting the team suspend him without justification.

They suspended him because he made negative comments against their precious qb, who proved to be a pansy afterall, just like TO said he was. Andy Reid must feel like a jerk right about now.

Here are the rules regarding NFL waivers ...

Section 1. Release:

(a) Whenever a player who has finished the season in which his fourth year of credited service has been earned under the Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle Plan is placed on waivers between February 1 and the trading deadline, his contract will be considered terminated and the player will be completely free at any time thereafter to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with any Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and sign a Player Contract with such player, without penalty or restriction, including, but not limited to, Draft Choice Compensation between Clubs or First Refusal Rights of any kind, or any signing period. If the waivers occur after that time, the player’s Player Contract will be subject to the waiver system and may be awarded to a claiming Club. However, if such player is claimed and awarded, he shall have the option to declare himself an Unrestricted Free Agent at the end of the League Year in question if he has a no-trade clause in his Player Contract. If such player does not have a no-trade clause and the Player Contract being awarded through waivers covers more than one additional season, the player shall have the right to declare himself an Unrestricted Free Agent as set forth above at the end of the League Year following the League Year in which he is waived and awarded.

(b) Whenever a player who has finished less than the season in which his fourth year of credited service has been earned under the Bert Bell/Pete Rozelle Plan is placed on waivers, the player’s Player Contract will be subject to the waiver system and may be
awarded to a claiming Club.

Translation ..

If T.O. has a no-trade clause and a team claims him, he can become a free agent at the end of this season. If he does not have a no-trade clause, then he can declare himself a free agent after the 2006 season.

Using this logic the GIants could pick him up to keep him from us signing him.

I expect the skins to claim him. (1) They are hurting at WR, (2) they are still mathematically in the playoff/division title hunt, (3) Prevents the Cowboys/giants from claiming him thus taking pressure off of their already exploited secondary and (4)TO is the type of high profile player that Snyder has wet dreams about every night. The only negative for the skins that may prevent them from signing TO would be the fact that they already lack team chemistry and Gibbs hates this type of play.

Skins do not have the cap space- and I think you have to have it at the moment the the player hits the waivers. So even if they tried to renegotiate some of their other contracts, it would not do them any good.

You have an arbitrator who is in direct conflict with football. This guy is a 20+ year Commanders season ticket holder. This guy is ruling with an underlyng motive whatever it may be. A new arbitrator neds to be chosen someone who is completly free of conflict....

I wonder if the league can look at the Eagles and regulate whether Douglas is allowed to hang around the team. After all, he has no roster spot, and I did hear where he instigated that little wrestling match in the locker room by going in the training room earlier that day when Owens was in there and saying something like "I know there's people in here faking injuries".

I would think that there's got to be some type of harassment at work laws being violated there. I can't imagine my employer having some guy hang around my work without actually being employed there and calling people out by saying they have been faking sickness to get off of work.

Does anyone know when Richard Blochhead will render his decision on the T.O. case?
