Strahan has 1 sack as a rookie.
Not exactly a high bar.

But Strahan developed with reps and gained strength, skills, stamina.

Taco has the requisite athleticism to be successful but he also lacks those other areas.
He has to get stronger, play harder, gain stamina and learn a variety of pass rush moves beyond his spin.

Well Strahan played in 9 games because of injury. They also ran the 3-4.

The bottom line is the guy has yet to play one down in the regular season. Speculation at this point, one way or the other, is just that. Let's hopefully enjoy the ride. This is not a position (DE), generally speaking, that shows itself right away.

Marinelli liked him after the draft and then he publicly dogged him after the game after only 16 reps. Tells me 2 things:

1. Rod expects a lot out of him

2. He wouldn't waste his time pushing Taco if he didn't think the potential was there to be developed

of course it "is just that", thats the point of posting on a board in August - to speculate. Dont squelch fan speculation, embrace it

Anyone who expects a rookie to have more than 5-6 sacks is either delusional or 12 years old. And that's actually high. Even the best of all time were not great double digit guys in their first year or so.

I don't see the gap between the teeth when Taco smiles. Other than that you could have something here.

I'd feel better about Taco if he at least flashed against reserves, but so far that hasnt been the case.

Just 16 snaps, though. Give the kid a chance. It's hard for defensive ends to show up often; let alone with as few plays as Taco had Thursday. Even DeMarcus Ware didn't show up every single play, and we know it's not for lack of talent or effort.
