Who will end season with more sacks? I believe taco has more so far this year.

Did we give up on taco too soon? He was playing out of position because that's where tank was. Could have saved 100 mil.

He sucks. His first sack against the Cowboys was a completely meaningless coverage sack.

That's when you need your LBs to fit their gaps.

Rams Playoff Game
  • It was how the Rams blocked the LBs that was the key to that game, not how they blocked the DL per se.
  • The Rams basically spent a lot of time learning all of the Cowboys players assignments on all type of plays.
  • They then said, if we just let the DL execute their assignments there will be gaps that the LBs must fill.
  • If they could find ways to block the LBs, then they wouldn't have to "win" against the DL.

Example: Outside Zone Run with cut-back to the inside.
  • Always run to the side where the Cowboys 1-tech is aligned.
  • The 1-tech has an extra gap to cross when moving to the outside.
  • Let the 1-tech take himself out of the play.
  • Pretend to block the 1-tech with a double-team but "let" him win to the outside.
  • Double-team the backside DT which is the 3-tech who is a gap further from the Center than the 1-tech.
  • The outside run action would move the LB on that side towards the outside.
  • The threat of misdirection plays (Jet Sweeps, QB keep and roll out backside, etc) would delay the backside LB and DE from moving laterally.
  • Now have the RB cut back inside.
  • One OL from each double-team block would then kick out on delayed blocks to cut the LBs off from moving laterally back inside.
  • The OLineman didn't even have to move the LBs, they just had to keep them from getting back to the middle almost like pass blocking.

The Rams even anticipated the corrections the Cowboys would attempt to make.
  • They knew the backside DT would start cheated to the inside.
  • They would then change up how they blocked that DT and run to the outside of him instead of inside.
    • It appeared that they let the 2 OL on that side decide which way to block him.
    • The RB would just read that block and cut inside or outside of it.

The key issue was that they could double team both DTs initially but then still use 1 OL from each double team to block the LBs on delayed blocks.
- Normally, an OL might make a quick help block and then kick out to block a LB, but that has to happen very quickly.
- Because the Rams used a slower developing play with players moving laterally, they could get legit double teams and still have those OL get out to block LBs.

Other teams are copying what the Rams did and the Cowboys have not figured out how to adjust.

Now the LBs are trying to guess to avoid getting boxed out which sometimes works but often makes things worse.

Taco wasnt cut or inactive due to ability. Not sure why we never played him on the left side to backup tank. Weird we had a non speed rusher always going against teams LT. Dlaw should be effective from both sides.
Marinelli AND Richard don't know where to best line up players. Idiots.

He had a bad attitude. Probably still does

A bad attitude doesnt mean you cant be a good football player.

We don't have the type of coaches to deal with these kind of guys. I had no problem letting him go, I just hate that we let him go without trading - seems like we did him a favor by letting him go to FA and allowing him to choose a team. I guess it's a nice gesture, but doesn't exactly bring anything in return. I didn't even like it when we drafted him, just didn't see a position he could play full time for us. One of the more boneheaded first picks by us in a long time - I at least understood Claiborne.

Oh well. Good for Miami, I guess.

We spent the draft pick on a squandered Taco and a big contract on a Tank with its track fallen off. This organization's resources are going nowhere.

Without watching an actual play, it sounds like the LBs aren't getting downhill in their gaps. I also don't see how both DTs could be double teamed without freeing up defenders.

We should have draft Njoku.

As for Charlton, he probably isnt ever gonna be a 3 down RDE, but Ive never seen him in a real game and thought to myself "This is a bad football player". Quinn is abysmal in run defense, and right now Taco would be a good run down DE on the right side. He would be a much better option than Jackson or Armstrong

Cutting a first round pick after 2 seasons is a complete waste of assets
