There's nobody on this team to tag.
Because of our lack of CAP and the knowledge that IF these players hit FA we can't compete for their contract....we are forced to offer the TAG to most anyone we want to keep.

He will certainly recover to the level that a regular/normal man his age would. Medically the docs would call it a complete full recovery. BUT will he be the pro bowl type athlete he was before the injury or will he have trouble reaching that level? No one knows that answer until he tries going full speed on the field. Also there is always the risk of a player being somewhat hesitant mentally after a serious injury. I wish Tony Pollard all the best. I hope he does come all the way back. However, I too think the smart move is to sign him if possible and forget the tag. No more than 13-14M on a two year deal and certainly no longer than two years. That is a fair deal for the player and somewhat of a risk for the team.
You don't sign players to 2 year deals anymore. Even if it is a 2 year deal it will be written up as 4/5.
What I suggested was 3 written as 5 but they may have to give TP the power to opt out after 2 to get that deal signed.

I am fairly certain Michael Gallup and Tony Pollard both return to 100%,
But missing large portions of any off-season does impact the play in-season.
Especially if asking said player to take on a larger, starting role.
TP has 1 awesome NFL season to his name and I am not betting on a repeat of that one a 1-year rental deal that costs me 10M in cap space.

According to NFL Network, the expected recovery time will be around three months, which should have him ready for portions of the offseason program.
Note Surgery was late January.
That means late April to start serious rehab stuff.

Then you must build conditioning.

That is a major delay of the regular off-season and puts him back in in play for more in pre-season area.
Free Agency starts March 15th.
Pollard is scheduled to be back around the NFL Draft in late April.

NFL is a messy business.
But A: I am not committing franchise dollars to a RB that is not 100% today.
B: Likely won't be at start of free agency.

I fully expect Pollard to be fine this season but their could be issues as Gallup faced coming back from injury and not getting a standard off-season.
I do not want to pay 10M for an 85% Pollard. --unless that 85% season buys me 2 more years of his rights.
I stand by what i said by the time mandatory camps start he will easily be ready, sorry its a fact. pollard will have zero ill effects from his injuries.

Actually, its far from fact.
No one knows that for sure.

He is scheduled to be back about a month after free agency starts and long after franchise tags must be applied. That is a fact.
He is scheduled to be back before any mandatory minicamps. That is a fact.
Zero ill effects this season is an opinion. And not a particularly logical one.

If the team tags him he can happily accept that or more likely he stays away from the facility while they negotiate a long-term deal.
If no deal is reached he has little incentive to come in and pass a physical and begin working before late pre-season.

Fans will forevermore forget about timing in discussing anything.
RB is the most physically demanding position in the NFL.
Any small issue can cause a very real impact in production.
Missing 2 months of off-season can certainly cause secondary issues.
On a long term deal it matters very little but on a 1-year deal for franchise money? It matters quite a lot.
