I completely agree with you fwiw.They fall in love with the idea of the big uglies, I guess. But Collins was always Leary's replacement. The real ability a team needs is the ability to identify and add talent to develop just like we did with Leary. Find another UDFA guy you reportedly have a 3rd or 5th round grade on or whatever it was and develop him.
And I like Leary more than Collins, honestly. Just not enough more that it overrides the contract situation, youth, and degenerative knee problem/back issues. But Zack Martin is a special player. Ronald Leary is a guy you're thrilled you found, but not a player you're going to overpay, not somebody you're going to cut another starter for, and certainly not somebody you're going to consider franchising.
And also think they may move on from Collins as well.
The cap isn't going to allow 4 massive OL deals and Dallas has the best OC and RG in football with a top 3 LT.
It would be nice if they could develop and trade those guys to a team that knows how to develop other positions like WR, TE or DE.
