Is this the kind of move that puts us over the top? Is this a Charles Haley kind of move?

I believe this is the only guy we were gonna spend for in FA until he got franchised.

After his arrest now I wonder if the Panthers will be interested. But I wonder if this is the kind of bold move that can cause a lot of backlash but put a team over the top. Let's say trade a 3rd? Or a 2nd even. Of course you'd have to rework the contract to lower the cap hit. Maybe a Melton kind of deal.

Charles Haley wasn't traded to a team with the worst defense in the league. Big difference.

Not going to happen and he's no Charles Haley. Charles wasn't a problem child off the field from what I remember. He was smart and liked to press buttons and didn't take kindly to losing, etc. Hardy is young and hasn't shown me the ability to really take over a game and have teams scheme just for him. You may disagree and that's fine. Let's keep drafting well, let's get more out of our UDFA as well and get to the point we are winning 12 games a season and going deep in the playoffs before we think one person is a difference maker.

I wouldn't mind Justin Blackmon. Yes I said it. Let him come here cheap, if he screws up we release him.

Is Blackmon healthy enough to even play in 2014? I thought I heard he may not be ready.

People already forgot Dallas just drafted a RDE?

I can see it now Dallas trades for Hardy and the fans asking for him would be excited, and then the following yr when his salary is a big cap hitter, they are no longer excited and starting Jerry is ruining the Cowboys threads with Bad contracts

And Panthers recently signed Hardy with the franchise tag, worth around $13 mil. So, how can we trade for him with that big of a tag? Draft picks won't do it alone.

Link to what? We have had historically bad defenses two years in a row. The worst in Cowboys history last year. A second rounder and a bunch of journeymen free agents won't fix that any time soon.

Well if they would trade for him, they would negotiate a new deal.

Beating up his girlfriend and throwing her on a bed with 25-30 loaded guns, no way. People want to throw Sterling out of the NBA because of some ignorant comments, but want to trade for a guy like this. There are too many talented 'good guys' to keep falling for this.

He was lucky that she didn't use one if the loaded guns. Stranger things have happened.

the FO just grabbed some questionable character guys this off season (draft), so I think that they are turning the corner and doing their due diligence on players before taking them on...RKG doesn't mean choir boys...this is a guy whose talent does not supersede his nincompoopness (yes, that is a Fredd word)...he isn't going to be a Cowboy...if you could trade for him (bad idea, gives up resources), afford him (bad idea as he just got franchised, and then a restructure would result in a large contract going forward), AND give him the magic punch (pun intended) to make him a good human being, then yeah, let's get him

I proposed signing hardy last season as the panthers were preparing to franchise him.

Now? No way. It's one thing to sign a potential character risk guy, it's another thing to jump in after the bomb has detonated. Remember, RKG aren't popular simply for the fact they're good PR for an organization, they also don't miss time on the field due to stupid off field issues.

If dallas is not anywhere close to a superbowl (and judging based on last season, they aren't close to being a contender), then it wouldn't make sense to take on a guy like greg hardy when he's no sure bet.

Good thing we didn't take you're advice last season. Ha Ha Ha :D

Anyone from down south will tell you that Richardson has his own skeletons in the closet regarding his treatment of female employees.

Panthers will sign him to a big deal. Sorry to say, but domestic violence in professional sports is no big deal. When was the last time someone was released or suspended because of it. So far this off-season there is Ray Rice and now Hardy. Doubt anything happens to either.

Greg Hardy’s 911 call presents another version of domestic dispute
Posted by Darin Gantt on May 15, 2014, 8:25 AM EDT

The transcript of the recording, provided by Black and Blue Review (audio at the link), details Hardy’s version of events.

At one point early in the call, Hardy made it clear his girlfriend (who is not 6-foot-4 and 290 pounds) was the aggressor, and was trying to enter his apartment and hit him with her shoe.

“She’s hit me in the face twice,” he said. “I’m trying to stay away from her. Can you please send somebody to help me? . . .

“I don’t need medic. She hit me in the face. I’m not bleeding or anything, it’s a little swollen, but I’m fine.”

The call has the clear sounds of the kind of altercation you expect at 4:18 a.m., when both parties have been drinking. But it paints a different picture than his girlfriend’s attorney painted in court documents, saying Hardy pushed her onto a bed full of loaded guns.

Why trade a draft pick for a guy we can't sign long term? Hardy makes the defense better but you have to remember Dez is going to need a contract, So is Tyron Smith. I don't know that Dallas could or would want to strap themselves locking big money up with 3 guys... just my opinion maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it.
