And he obviously listens to McClay more often than not. If you can’t see that, I don’t know what to say.
He still makes the decisions. Unless you are trying to tell me he does 100% of what McClay thinks and wants, which I am sure you are not. GM's listen to a lot of people in the circle of trust. Their will be conflicting opinions and the GM makes the call.

I believe that loosely translates to "I don't have one right now and I don't have enough time to look for one".

I mean if you're going to make that a point to make your case, you should easily be able to back it up, right?

That being said I will help you out with one, Aubrey was signed July 3rd last year from the USFL.
He wasn’t cut from another team. But I’ll give ya this one anyways

The Cowboys are in this salary cap mess BECAUSE of Will McClay finding talent that they drafted. Jerry’s to blame for many things, but he listens to McClay. If you can’t see that, I’m sorry.
Now that's the way to make your point and get people to listen.

It will be hard to find a young, future great DT, but crazier things have happened. The FO just has to be aware of the need and make a real attempt at signing one.

You can’t even admit that Jerry listens to McClay more often than not. I’m not a Jerry apologist but that’s pretty pathetic.

How would I know who he listens to? My point is it does not matter. It is still his call at the end of the day.

Here is the facts…

Bottom feeders in the NFL for decades. Very little playoff success. Can’t blame Will for all that but the story is true for 3 decades now.

This is the same for all NFL teams. I’ve got faith in Will McClay to find some talent at both the RB and DT positions before the season starts. Whether it’s a young player that’s on the tail end of a strong roster or a veteran last day cut. There will be some excellent talent teams will try and stash on the practice squad. This is where McClay shines. Who knows, they may already have someone on the roster in both areas. So no need to lose faith. Lots to look forward to.
McClay can find all the talent he wants.

He doesnt negotiate the contracts.

Look at Wagner. DQ wanted him. The FO said no.

Not really. Aside from an occasional blib, talent acquisition is at designated times.

People still pretending that Will McClay is more than just another Jerry yes man?

We are talking about the same McClay that refuses to interview for actual GM jobs, right?

Will McClay fears being asked GM questions in an interview. Being a Jerry yes man is much easier.

Draft, FA period, and an occasional trade during the season. That's about it. If teams are really acquiring all this talent during offtimes, then name a few players that were acquired then.
