This is how the 49ers and the Seahawk built their teams and I'm in favor of it. When this team seriously competes for a championship, Romo may not be our starting qb.
Garrett got the HC job because he's well thought of by the Jones family. No! im noting saying hes a good coach, but other teams were going to hire him.

Someone needs tell Mickey to take a breather every now and then. All that water he carries for the Cowboys must get pretty heavy after a while.

This is my concern. With his size being rangy, he would get worn down by holding up a tackle on run downs.

So he is a pass rush specialist.

If he struggles in transition to the bigs at all in the pass rush, then what?

NO he means that Lawrence isnt a finished product. They want to develop him on the fly. Getting production out of him in situations they know play to his strengths while at the same time learning all the aspects of being a WDe in the tampa 2

A safety that delivers big hits is not a good thing with the current rules. Thus a sad statement about the direction of the NFL if you think about it.

The seahawks won the superbowl by hitting everything in sight. So these kinds of statements mean nothing

Hindsight is always 20/20, but it would have been interesting if they would have traded back to Cleveland and received a 3rd. So now we have 26,47 and 2 3rds.

26 - Jimmy Ward
34 - Lawrence (still do the trade with Washington - giving them 47 and a 3rd)
78 - Trai Turner

Dallas wasnt looking at Ward. They wouldve taken Lawrence in that trade down in round 1. probably Ealy in round 2 and Trai round 3

I am a little disappointed in our draft as well. I just don't like Lawrence that much. I really want to but I just don't see it.

I love our first pick, and the seventh round. Everything else was kind of meh to me.

I certainly don't see this draft making us that much better this year. Which is tough, cause that likely means new coaching staff next year which in turn means this draft class may get ignored by the new regime

Martin was such a good pick though. They should get credit for that. Street is a solid role player and our 7th rounders were all great value. So its not horrible by any means

Well professor, if he struggles in transition and ends up being a mediocre pass rusher in addition to not being a fantastic run stopper, I guess he'd go down as a poor draft pick and "miss" on the scout's and FO's part.

Obviously they're confident he'll produce, as evidenced by how highly they had him rated + the trade up.

Cliff Notes: Cowboys will have screwed it up again.

yep....TR is not long for this league sadly. I'd give anything for him to be 5 yrs younger but it is what it is. I think we win 5-7 games this year, and 8-10 next season which could be his last. IF we stay disciplined and continue to draft like we have the last 2 years. we can and should be very good by the 2016 season. At least they are changing it up and doing things the right way for the most part. No quick fix type picks the last couple drafts....I'm encouraged.

What makes you think Jerry could be ready to move on from Garrett?

I understand what this means. I am not sold on giving up two picks to get this guy who could be a liability in the run game.

Obviously. But it's okay that I have a concern, isn't it? I mean you allow me that option, right?

I agree, but from what Dallas is saying theyre rotating this DL alot this yr. And atleast let him play a game first before you call him a liability

That would have been the best alternative. But like you said that only works with hindsight.

• 24 new players

• Ready to pick Shazier but he went to Pit. How different couldve gone if Dal picked him? Wouldve been Will, Carter wouldve been the SAM.

• Didnt go into the draft thinking Martin. But made the right choice.

• They did try to trade back, and most likely wouldve picked Lawrence earlier if they couldve.

• Develop the OL because Romo isnt always going to be taking snaps. Have an established good OL in place for the successor will only enhance his success.

• Jerry probably killed a deal somebody trading up for Manziel by down talking him.

• The way teams were picking before the Cowboys, if they had Lawrence rated there they did smart move not to hope and wait for teams to pick. smart trade up.

• Marinelli thinking they put Lawrence in on 2nd and 3rd down right away and produce pressure plays.

• Just want Lawrence to worry about just going after the QB, and grow into the posistion.

• Mitchens is a guy that you can have a reliable option that can play different spots and allow Hollomon to move to a spot that he can contribute more, SAM.

• Eberflus talks about Durant moving over to the WILL spot to compete with Carter. Carter is going to have to win the spot to start this yr.

Carter wins that competition and Holloman wins the other spot. At least I believe that would be the best situation. Hopefully Holloman can stay healthy.

Melton, Lawrence and Crawford have to be above average players if this defense is even going to have a chance. All 3 are major ????

Then we draft or sign someone else.
