It’s typical media overhype. 31-28 isn’t tanking.
Much like Jags taking Vikes to OT.
Close losses are exactly what tanking is all about.
Jets will still mess up the pick, they are the jets. Dallas needs the best lineman they can get either on defense or offense in the first 3 rounds. And maybe invest in the safety position in round 4 and beyond.
but wasn't darnold their can't miss gotta have him franchise qb?
now it's lawrence?
i can't keep up with all these gotta have them we gotta get them franchise qb's.
Disagree. Did you think the Jags were tanking in OT loss to Vikings?
Tanking looks more like the dumbest decisions I’ve ever seen in Dallas only down 4 points then totally giving up afterwards.
Picking between Fields and Lawrence isn’t an enviable position because one of them will likely end up being loads better than the other. I’d be afraid of making the wrong choice.
That whole coaching staff will be let go at the end of the year. Greg Williams is coaching for his next job. I seriously doubt he was trying to lose.
Right ..That was a risk to win.
Jets put up 15 points in 4th qtr. That’s not tanking.
Or you could trade it if someone else is all in on one them. Pick up a buttload of picks and players and still draft a QB in 1st round. There’s probably going to be 4 or 5 taken in 1st round.
They're hoping for the same kind of draft that 83 brought with Elway, Kelly and Marino and not the Manning-Leaf draft.
This draft is lining up to have as many as 7 QB's selected in the 1st round. It's not deep except at QB and quite a few in the QB needs category. The success of these young QB's isn't lost on these teams.
If the coaching staff is let go, they won't be able to reap the rewards of tanking. It makes no sense.
As I was typing this, I just got a notification that Greg Williams got fired. If it was a tank job, he wouldn't have been fired.
Well Gregg Williams has been fired....guess he didnt tank well enough...
Any talk of players or coaches tanking is crazy talk. They dont put in that much work all offseason to tank. Players tend to hate drafts because that is their possible replacement. you think Sam Darnold isnt trying to win games? You think that entire coaching staff isnt coaching to save their jobs right now?
He got fired for almost winning.
not really different than when teams rest players because they have playoff position locked up. it gifts a team a win which affects playoff chances and draft position for multiple teams.
Agree and that will quiet the tank talk.
Id say more in this draft because it's a shallow draft. I think up to 7 get taken.
Well, players don't tank, management tanks.
Greenie’s comments were probably closer to realty . A diehard Jet fan he was upset they were trying to win and simply stated their organization and staff is so bad explaining the bonehead call which probably explains Williams being fired today.
Right like Jimmy did trading his best player away then not playing players aquired in trade.
But players can quit on their HC like we saw on Thanksgiving in Arlington. Which might be worse than tanking.
If you want to tank, you just have a DB blow a coverage. Send in a blitz and they *might* get home. "Blitz but make sure you don't get there" is just way overcomplicating a tank.
