There is nothing about this team that says they are or will tank.

This has been the Cowboys way since probably after the Roy Williams trade. I don't know why anyone is surprised.

Quit?? This would actually give us hope. Adding a couple left over free agents next week to this team is a waste of time. At least tanking would give the illusion of a plan in the front office.
Well tanking is for losers…….You go all in.

*Coaching staff all on 1 year deals
*No extension for Dak (Yet)
*No extension for Lamb (Yet)
*Just $9M in cap space
*Need new starters at DT, LB, RB, C, LT, slot CB, 3rd WR

Tank is probably too strong of a word as they should be able to play somewhere in that 7-10 wins range on the high end talent they have. What we don't see is any indication that this team will truly make moves to improve the roster over 2023. Jerry/Stephen do seem pretty content with being pretty mediocre this year. There is still some time, but I think they're closer to tank mode than all in mode. Hope they prove me wrong.

Dallas wasn't keeping Pollard, Armstrong, or Biadasz at the cost they signed for.

Dallas wasn't going to break the bank for Wilkins or Barkley or Jacobs, either.

So we can sit around and have our yearly FA Pity Party or just accept the way this team has done business for the past dozen-plus years and move on.

All coaches are still in place, all still under contract
Dak is still the QB under contract
Lamb is still the #1 WR and under contract
Cap space is a non issue, they can make room to sign whomever if they wanted too.

We agree they are not doing anything so far to improve, but they aren't tanking. They haven't lost anyone so far that would cause them to lose a game.

Every years a new year. Giving up is easy and why it’s so popular here. You all want everything NOW!
Tell them Rocky even after Mr.T beat you to a pulp you came back and showed him who's boss! :muttley:
P.S. Of course it didn't take you 29 years but hey a win is a win is a win!!!!!

They want that horizon as clear as possible for 2025. No Dak, no leftover coaches, and they are minimizing their number of holdover vets with long-term deals.

In reality, they are looking at a competitive team that isn't a serious contender for a championship.

2025 will be the GM forcing Trey Lance on whatever happy-to-be-here yes man they replace McCarthy with, while also being saddled with a ton of dead money on the cap.

The board here will tell us all how we aren't real fans because we aren't all yelling Super Bowl!

Fast forward to Drew Pearson: "With the 1st pick in the 2026 draft, the Dallas Cowboys select Arch Manning, quarterback, from the University of Texas."

All coaches are under contract, however those 1 year deals do matter. It shows a lack of faith Jerry has in his coaches. For a team that has a history of culture issues and a narrative that the owner undermines his head coaches this is a major red flag IMO.

Agreed that Tank is the wrong word, but I see a front office that seems more focused on 2025 than 2024.
