I just about threw up in my coffee when I somebody on this fine forum posted a thread suggesting Dez was the best receiver in the NFL.
A better question is how he can merit playing time when half the time he has zero clue about the plays and his responsibilities.
Look at the numbers from today's game:
Kitna when targeting anyone other than Dez: 30-36
Kitna when targeting Dez (All NFL, All Universe): 0-6
And Hostile laughably suggested that (and I quote) "Kitna just wasn't in synch with him."
Some of you are riding the Dez train just as it is heading completely off the tracks.
It's halfway through a season and Dez can't keep track even of the limited plays that he is assigned to know.
He is zigging when he should be zagging. He often doesn't get appropriate depth on his routes. He needs to be reminded before the play what he should be doing. Put simply: he doesn't put himself where a quarterback can reliably expect him to be when he's supposed to be there. Little wonder that Kitna was barking at him more than a time or two.
The kid is running around in diapers playing sandlot football and he has more enabling fans than there are Americans who over eat and drink on holidays.
This is one case where I sure miss the disciplinarian style of Bill Parcells. Hopefully JG can help this kid get serious about knowing his job.
If you want to watch an NFL offense that works...watch the Patriots. They operate with *consistent* precision...often even with less athletically talented players. There is zero tolerance in that culture for not knowing and doing your job.
The Randy Moss's of the world ultimately never win much for long. Disciplined players win a ton.
