Tashard Choice

Tashard is good at all the things Marion is good at. Receiving, pass blocking, and running the football. You can't ask for more than a running back that can do those three things well.

I think the "Barber and Choice are too much alike" mentality adopted by the coaching staff has been proven stupid, especially with Barber being hurt now.

He slipped/fell way too much in the first half. He didn't create or run into space the way a RB worthy of the praise in this thread should.

Wonder if the new turf, said to be hard as a rock, played into it. Maybe he had the wrong cleats on for it ... just rationalizing a little ..

BTW he was a fourth round pick. Maybe not so "amazing" for a four-pick, but pretty good value at that spot it looks like.

Is there a little bit of power runner in him that can push the pile for a yard or two, or is he just a gap runner? I didn't watch close enough ...

great great great performance.

I am happy to have doubted him.

The only nitpick I have is that he was clearly tired later in the game. That isn't on him - the coaching staff should have tried to get him at least short blow or two.

There was noone else they could put out there.

It takes a year for most players to get the stamina to play late into NFL games as a feature RB. He played well under extremely trying circumstances.

I actually think he is better than Barber who has been severely overrated here. He has great vision and great cutting ability. He has good balance and okay power. His only shortcoming is breakaway speed.

And I don't think both are alike, thats what I don't get either. Seems like Tashard sees the holes much better or has little bit Better Vision. Marion, is the hammer, which Tashard can be, but I don't think he is Marion type Hammer.

And I think Tashard has more speed than Marion.

Eskimo and others are right here. The kid was awesome today.
That's not even a question...too bad he didn't get enough help.

That's what he said in the post game interview (that he changed his cleats sometime in the game, maybe half time). I really like the kid, he has the right attitude and says all the right things and has done nothing but perform when given the chance. Give me 22 T Choices any day of the week.

Also, this was his first start against the #1 defense in the NFL and he rushed for more yards than any other running back this year that has played Pitt. He ran for more yards than Portis, B Jacobs, Mcgahee, B Westbrook, Slaton, Jamal Lewis, Fred Taylor, Joseph Addai & Dominic Rhodes combined and Ladainian Tomlinson. I'd say he did a damn good and without him we wouldn't have had a shot at all. He had 88 yards rushing and 78 yards receiving--166 yds total.

I say again, great job rook!!

Whoever said he wasn't impressed with the way he ran is nuts. He didn't turn the ball over and gave everything he had against a great D.

Also, whoever said Choice only had like 9 yards in the 2nd half was dead wrong. He had 47 total yards on the 1st drive of the 3rd quarter alone.

Listen to what he says in his post game interview:

All the right stuff!! Great kid!!!

Don't overlook his amazing ability to pick up those blitzes, he did a great job doing that.

i laughed when jerry said he reminded him of emmitt but u know wat he did today. im not saying he is him but a very very very poor man's version haha. he ran decent between the tackles he showed he could find the hole. he blocked outstanding like emmitt used to do and he also did a fantastic job of catching the ball out of the backfield. very impressive performance by Choice!

neither Ryan or Flacco were that impressive today

I think Choice has a good shot to get OROW

He was the best thing to come out of this debacle today. That and Brady James still playing very well: maybe the light has come on for Brady. 'Bout time.

Choice, Scandrick, and Bennett - three very good football players who a lot of people thought were wasted picks. Too many people on the board pay too much attention to the mock draft 'experts' and draft status.

The team lost today but with people like that it won't be long before the Cowboys can celebrate.

The Bennett pick upset alot of people because we had just traded Fasano away for a 4th rounder and had a big need at WR - in a draft with a fair amount of depth in the 2nd round, many were disappointed that we didn't go up and get a guy like Devin Thomas, James Hardy, Royal, Desean Jackson, Limas Sweed, etc. Others pointed out it was likely a BPA sort of pick given there was okay depth at the position. People then really jumped all over him for the Hard Knocks stuff. Overall, he has been great for a late second rounder. He could probably start for 2/3rds of the league already.

I know a small minority of people didn't like the Choice pick because they thought he wouldn't see the field much. I don't remember too many criticizing the player, though.

I don't recall that many people dislking the Scandrick pick. To get any sort of meaningful contribution out of a 5th rounder is a bonus. Most are lucky just to make the roster for a couple of years.

Gawd I just love Choice more every time I hear him talk. Did anyone see his comments on the Score? He looked like he was about to cry from losing this game.

That's the way Irvin was (NOT SAYING HE's IRVIN) and we need more guys like this that hate losing more than they love winning.

Can't say enough about this kid

Just saw it...LOVE this kid. Again, it goes to coaching incompetence that this kid hasnt been trusted to help lighten the load on MBIII. Coaches scheme, set tone, and evaluate talent. We lose on all three. I am VERY happy with our RB situation for the next 4 yrs!

I really hope Felix and him beat out Barber next year for the starting spot - Marion is great in certain ways but I think he leaves alot of yards on the field. The only problem is that we wouldn't be able to trade Barber because of that monstrosity of a contract.

Barber is a great finisher. You use guys like Choice and F. Jones to keep the defense honest, and when you're up 13-3 in the 4th quarter, you bring in a bruiser like Barber to just abuse what's left of the opposing defense and chew up the clock, and then tack on another 7 points with 1:30 or so left on the clock. All your defense has to do then is keep 'em out of the endzone.

Plus...Barber is one of the smartest football players i have ever seen. He knows the sit, where the sticks are, when to stay in bounds, etc.

He's very good. My dad always hates on him, saying he's not a "starting back" but I feel that his football smarts and his invaluable ability to close out a game are well worth the lack of ripping off huge runs.

I mean not every team can have Adrian Peterson/Ladanian Tomlinson style backs :
