He's too young to be the type of leader his teammates will respect.

If he does something so amazing that it commands the attention of his teammates, yes.

But he'll need maybe three years and some skins on his helmet before he becomes a leader his fellow teammates respect.

This is why guys end up going to other teams and blowing up. The notion that rookies cannot contribute and cannot lead, which appears to be widespread amongst fans as well as professional sports coaches, is completely and utterly asinine. Leaders are BORN they aren't made.

I don't think it was a slump as Ds figuring out how to stop him:

don't try to tackle him high

Barber needs to re-evaluate how he runs, because trying to cut outside, and stiff-arming the defender isn't working anymore, they go for his ankles all the time

Good observation. Looking at what I see that's making him slump. That's precisely it.

Yep. I think we need to see Choice carry more of the load but if he does and performs like he did at the end of last year, he makes Barber great trade bait. I just don't see Barber lasting a long time with his running style. Choice has some power but he is more elusive than Barber and is probably the better long term investment.
Would you take a 1st for him this year?

Just curious.

For me, that'd be contingent on a healthy Felix. But think about what we could do with a first rounder. We could still run the ball with Felix and Choice and whoever we draft to fill the 3rd RB position.

I'd take a 2nd or 3rd for Choice.

Nobody is going to give you a first for him.

I was asking about a 1st for Barber. I'd take a 2nd or 3rd for Choice too. But I love the kid.

Ah. You confusing rascal. Or perhaps I'm an illiterate rascal.

Hmm. I don't think we could get a first for Barber. He hasn't even started an entire 16 games yet.

I'd think we would get a 2nd for him.

I keep wondering if either he or Barber will be traded for draft picks down the road.

I would hate to see either guy go. But id Rather keep Choice. Just because hes younger and has potential. He was a sleeper pick in the draft last year.

I would take a first, yes. He's only missed one game in 48 games his last 3 years. I love Barber and his passion, but a first rounder could do wonders for this team while having 11 picks?? The possibilties are endless.

Choice and Felix is still better than alot teams...not to mention you could add a Shonne Green in the 4th.

RB's have always been a dime a dozen to me. Easiest position to transistion to in the NFL. Look at last years rookie RB class. Slaton,Forte,Stewart,Felix,Johnson,Choice.

Do you think any teams would call for Barber Hos?

If it was a 1st in the top 20, I'd do it in a second.

I keep thinking "Taster's Choice" whenever I see this thread.

People here will think I'm crazy, but Barber is more likely to be traded. He would be the more logical choice seeing as how Felix and Choice could carry the load without a drop in production, and we could get more by trading Barber than Felix or Choice at this time. It could happen as early as this offseason if we are presented an offer we cannot refuse.

I believe accelerating Barber's signing bonus by trading him would place a huge hit on the salary cap. Now I would never advise a fellow poster to "learn the game" but a Barber trade this year seems a little out there.

I don't think your crazy at all! If a team offerred a sweet deal then the Cowboys should take it!. I wouldn't be out there sending emails and calls to people looking to unload them, but if someone was interested I would listen..
