I believe accelerating Barber's signing bonus by trading him would place a huge hit on the salary cap. Now I would never advise a fellow poster to "learn the game" but a Barber trade this year seems a little out there.

A Barber trade this year is completely out there. But I wouldn't rule it out in a year or two, pending Felix's health. Tashard Choice has what I think we need from a starting back with Felix being an excellent spell back for a "change of pace." Unless Marion Barber is cool with being the 3rd string closer, I think we have to consider letting him go in a few years, especially if we can garner a 1st + extras for him.

I would hate to see either guy go. But id Rather keep Choice. Just because hes younger and has potential. He was a sleeper pick in the draft last year.

I would choose Choice just because I like his running style better, and think it's more productive

Honestly what we need to do is let choice start since he is well rounded.
Make Felix our 3rd down back and score like a madman.
And make Barber take over as soon as the 4th quarter comes around. (Afterall, that's how he became a Probowler).

Stick Barber in some 1st downs (prior to the 4th quarter) and Felix in some 2nd downs (especially passing situations)

Everyone gets enough carries and all of them would be fresh.
It would be awesome if we became a run first offense. Our Passing would be disgusting (in the good sense) once the safeties had to move inside.

I agree 100%

They need to get at least 30-35 touches between the three of them a game. I don't care how you divide it, but just keep them fresh and the defenses will get exhausted. We can control the clock and our D will play lights out since they are rested. Oh and by the way....We got a probowl QB,WR,TE in the passing game...

I keep wondering if either he or Barber will be traded for draft picks down the road.

I really don't think we have room for 3 runningbacks of their caliber. One of the 3 is going to have to go or do a serious disservice to the rest. My vote is for MBIII to leave the island. I was never a big fan of him starting full time anyways while I like TC or Felix in that role. Barber is a closer, plain and simple.

If Dallas does that:

Welcome to a 10+ million $ cap hit next year.

Which is why I was against this last year. I never thought he was worth that kind of money. I like him. I really do. I just don't think he is the full time, game changer that a starting running back needs to be.

no doubt IMO that choice should be starting and barber should be closing. throw in felix now and again and also split him out some. would also love to see the widlcat with choice and jones in the backfield with crayton or stanback at QB.

I realize it's going to be unpopular because of the droves of MB3 fans in here (incl me) but I fully agree with your line of thinking.

Choice - starter
Felix - change of pace
MB3 - short yardage/4th Q back

I really like that!

keep all of them because Jones can return kicks and play the slot--I would play all three of 'em on some plays--use a little imagination and cause matchup problems

but if someone offered a high enough draft choice for either Choice or Barber, I'd think about it

TC has been my "choice" from the get go! For the life of me I couldn't understand why Redball never got him in the game for a few token carries early on for a look see. Of course Redball didn't use Felix too much either. That video of TC was awesome, he showed both heart and leadership.
