Taylor Happily Redo Contract To Expedite Trade To Dallas..

Taylor is a LOT more talented than Ellis and is a very smart player. Combined with the fact that he's motivated to go out a winner i really have no doubt that Taylor would be able to make the transition from RDE to a combination of playing end and OLB in the 3-4 because he is a very versatile player and very athletic for a player his age. so if it's a Ellis for Taylor with him restructuring his contract well you would have to insanely stupid not to make the deal. of course that would be on a dallas point of view because it would insanely stupid for miami to make this deal lol

i keep seeing like "no Taylor is too old, keep Greg"

well Greg aint that much younger, whats the difference 1 maybe 2 years? and im pretty sure Taylor was defensive MVP two years ago or at least runner-up.

thats the real big difference.

ByeBye Greg...don't let the door hit your arse on the way out you whiney *******!!

It's not a question of whether Taylor is the better player...he is. It goes far deeper than an "Ellis for Taylor swap."

It will no doubt cost us more money to sign Taylor. If we stand pat, it costs us nothing and we have Ellis (albeit a crybaby)....but an Ellis who could very well have lead this team in sacks last year had he played the entire year.

If we do happen to make the swap, it will most likely have an adverse impact on us resigning TO, Hamlin, Canty and others... and this is for a player who would presumably share time with Spencer.

If signing Taylor has ANY effect whatsoever on re-signing the aforementioned, I'll gladly keep crybaby (Ellis) and his 12 sacks per year - PART TIME.

Is an extra sack or two worth the cost and the inability to resign those other guys?

I don't even want to think about having Roy back there without Hamlin or Crayton out there without TO.

We have a good thing in Ellis/Spencer IMO. It's a strength. We have weaknesses in other areas and by signing Taylor, we would presumably have a harder time coming up with the $ to address same.

Bottom line, IMO/FWIW... we can spend our money more wisely elsewhere........it's not a simple question of who is better.......Ellis or Tayor......Taylor is............dun't mean it's the thing to do.

Carry on people..

With you having the great Haley as your sig/avatar, you should definitely appreciate what Taylor can bring, which is PRESSURE PRESSURE PRESSURE. The reason the Giants won the SB and spanked us, PRESSURE.

To me, make it work anyway you can Jerry, just get a force, the Ware/Taylor combination will be lights out for QBs.

If it were as easy as simply trading one player for the other - that is a no-brainer.......you do it. That, however is never going to happen.

Why would Parcells trade one old pass rusher for another old pass rusher who is not as good, even money?

It's going to cost $ and perhaps a lot of it.

How many years does Taylor have left? If we sign him then can't sign Hamlin or Canty - is it worth it?

In my book - no.......... we disagree.

I'm all for bringing PRESSURE but it goes far beyond the mentality of "Ellis for Taylor" IMO/FWIW.

Because the better one does not want to play for him apparently. At all.

So assuredly Bill will shop Taylor, but at that price tag what is realistically going to get for him?

Its been rumored to death because the deal actually makes sense for everyone involved. Bill gets a decent pass rusher back instead of *nothing*. Taylor gets to play for a contender. The boys upgrade, the Fins make the best of a bad situation.

The only loser is Ellis, but given his behavior the last couple of years I wonder if he is just not better off being on a losing team where his job is not constantly "in jeapordy"

if it wasn't for ellis and his *****ing, i'd be all for keeping him. i'm glad he's been a cowboy for life but he clearly wants more than we can give him. what's funny is that despite his *****ing, he's playing better ball. he's just not a leader on the defensive side of the ball. that is why we signed zach thomas....the D needs leadership. taylor would be an instant upgrade. i'd rather get rid of carp but i'd take this...

He's a natural RDE, which means Canty's spot.

Uh, no.

He's an OLB, and has been playing Ware's position over the past few years. He used to be a RDE in the 4-3, but that was before Nick came and left town.

Not only that but he plays almost exclusively on the right side. Meaning that if he were to man Ellis' spot it is learning 2 new jobs and adding coverage of a TE into the mix.

Dude, where you're getting your information from ?

Jason Taylor plays all over the field. They have him as a rover player who just as easily drops back in coverage as well as he rushes the passer. He's NEVER, even in Jimmah's 4-3 defense, EVER been an " exclusive " anything.

good point sarge,

i think jerry is loading up, possibly to get taylor if he can get him for the right price

just scares me, when a player like greg is suppose to be your leader on defense, and he is griping again

if we can get taylor, and if he is willing to take a structured salary cap that would enable us to sign him for like 3 years, and he would be willing to play at least 2 years or 3 to help us get to the super bowls and win a couple i am all for it

just seems like greg is getting silly the last 3 years complaining, i forgot who it was, oh yeah, nate newton and he said something to the effect the way greg is

which to me was a negative,

so i say, with jerry jones making moves, getting T O signed, and i heard he is working on getting Hamlin signed now, that locks up our players all except for Canty and i think they will do that;

then they already have 8 million added into next years salary cap; and most likely some one year or 2 year player like curtis last year, they can save another 3-4 million, that would give us like 111 - 12 million added, more than enough to resign Tank Johnson, looks like he is going to be a player and resign Ware.

so things are looking great right now, so if economics are there, get taylor to me that is what is lacking on this team, team leaders like ex michael irvin-T O takes his place of course, Emmitt Smith-none there yet, maybe barber now; charles haley- that could very well be Jason Taylor and we also have zach thomas whom i think will be a big help in locker room, helping our young linebackers with studying film,

now all we need is a good defensive player to take roy williams in hand like darren wooodson did and get him to study film more

and i think jason witten emerges as a leader this year too

It doesnt make any sense.

The only way I would want him, is if we kept ellis and had 4 legit pass rushers.

:signmast:

i went from about 87 percent sure it wasnt going to happen to about 60 percent sure that it will reading that. not the ellis trade but some sort of trade for him. wisest for both sides would be for Miami to accept a draft pick

If a player doesn't want to play for the team, Parcells is not going to keep you...doesn't matter how good you are. Parcells has never been about keeping the more talented players on his team. It's all about getting players that will buy into his system, and apparently, Taylor wants no part of it.

It's going to cost $ and perhaps a lot of it.
Not if Taylor is willing to accept less money, which is the only thing that gives this rumor any legs. At this point, it is all about winning for Taylor. He knows his time is running out and and he will never get a ring in Miami.

Also, for Ellis, it seems to be all about playing time. He will get that in Miami, so it would be a win situation for him. Everybody wins.

Mickey has already stated that the Jason Taylor's impact on the salary cap would be less than Greg Ellis already is... Couple in the fact that Jason wants to win...
