I stand by my statement above.
To clarify, without Toby Keith, there's probably no
Taylor Swift
. He's the one that got her signed to
his label (a label he was leaving to create another).
Keith and Scott Borchetta worked together on this.

There's a Rolling Stone article that fills in the rest
of the story. (Not a fan of the magazine)

Also, I feel like John Rich probably knows what he's
saying as he "tweeted" a comment wondering why
she hasn't said anything.

Regardless, funny how she went from an awestruck
15 year old phenom grateful to be in the same room
as Toby Keith, to completely shun him during his
passing.
That's preposterous
Like saying if not for the Lions drafting Barry Sanders, there would be no Barry Sanders.
Just lunacy

You don't think one of the other hundreds of talent scouts and financiers wouldn't have helped young Swift eventually?

Good for Keith, but HE was the lucky one, not the other way around.

Without him there would be no Swift? Ever?
:lmao:
This forum can be so silly

Having said all that, I'm tired of Swift and the Chiefs. Would much prefer she didn't make the game.

dude, there are a lot of great singers that never got the deal and never made it big
Swift is not THAT talented; so to claim she always would have made it big no matter what is a joke

I'm sick of Swift....but

Saying someone made someone else applies to one-hit wonders....of which there are hundreds.
Flash in the pans that had a hit and then were gone.
Or in the sports, maybe the dude that made the helmet catch in the Super Bowl for the Giants and then was never heard from again.

Not performers that are at or near the top of their profession for 10-15 years

smh

He didn't discover her...he helped finance her.
If you mean that "makes" somebody, then you can say that about every entertainer that ever lived....sport, actors, singers...whatever.

If anyone deserves credit for "discovering" Swift it is Scott Borchetta of Sony. But a bunch of people knew who she was very early on. She was bit a child phenom before ever signing a big deal.

Keith was in the group that had first mover advantage.
And for that he deserves credit!

Sure dude. Whatever you say buddy.
My bad. Of course a 15 year old girl would've made
"exactly" the same steps without Keith entering her
life. She was one bad period from being the next story on that show "Snapped".

If Barry Sanders went to GB, for example, instead of Detroit, he plays half his career on grass and in the cold instead of displaying his speed, quickness and all those great moves on turf indoors.

Boom.

Lets all pray she can't make it so we don't have to see her mug on TV anytime Travis makes a catch...
For cryin’ out loud, Man Up! In the last game she was on screen for a TOTAL of 24 seconds. Some people will complain about anything.

It’s over guys, and we all survived.

Anyone got any ideas on who people can irrationally hate now?

Look Keith did not discover Swift.
not even close

I like him but that old story was never true. Has been debunked long ago.
there has been plenty written on topic.

He was just one of the folks who helped finance the label. No discovering by him at all….or giving her an opportunity she would not have gotten by other means
She had choices and chose that label because a guy (Scott Borchetta) who first saw her wanted his own label.
Keith was one of the o es who helped finance the label.
But whatever….

your claim she would have always made it is such crap
There are probably a hundred young singers out there better than she is; who will never make it for one reason or another
she could easily have been one of them; she frankly is not that talented

I mentioned Scott Borchetta. I referenced the whole
story through a Rolling Stone article. That alone kills
the "not even close" comment. Also mentioned a tweet
from John Rich, who knows a little about the Nashville music scene.

The point seems to be escaping you. One would think condolences would be in order since he had a part in
her success.

I agree It would be a nice gesture.
Do we know she hasn't reached out to his family?
I mean, thats all that matters, right?
