Jake Ferguson had a nice bounce back season, 80 plus catches and 8 TD's. Most of his catches are more underneath check down, but they are very important for the offense. Games that he did struggle, the offense did the same, which suggests his importance to the unit.

Schoonmaker a former 2nd rd pick that has failed to make much of an impact. Now in his contract season where he will be fighting to earn a roster spot, he may even be a prime trade candidate.

Spann-Ford-he is also will be playing on his final contract year. Was making an early impact in camp before an injury took place. More of just a high end run blocker at this point. He also isn't guaranteed a roster spot.

Fant-he is that depth piece at the position which the team can control at a low rate.

Luepke-he has the versatility to play RB/FB/TE where the staff thinks highly of his skillset. They have said that want to find more ways to get him involved within the offense, also a strong special team player that makes him a roster lock.

Trigg/DJ Rogers both received 200k guarantee money to sign with the team. Both will have the opportunity to win a roster spot. Trigg has a skillset that the others just don't have in the passing game, which makes him a player to watch.

I doubt anyone is giving up a pick for Schoonmaker. I don’t see Spann-Ford getting cut, it’s not easy finding a good run blocking TE like he is. Hopefully Trigg can develop and attack the seam routes downfield.
TE's are in high demand, just look at the quantity that was drafted this year. I think they could get a 5 at worst a 6 for him.

Luepke likely isn't going anywhere in his jack of all trades role.

Ferg, Spann-Ford and Trigg are your TE's. If they go four deep then include one of either Schoon - Fant - Rogers.

There is no way Schoon gets another deal next year. Might as well see what they can get for him on the trade market. Honestly, if they get offered a 6th I'd take it. For a 5th, Jerry should use his own jet and deliver him.

I'm not quite sure why they are so enamored with Luepke. Not saying he's bad but I'm not sure I've ever come away from a game thinking "Man, I'm glad we have that guy"

TE 1and nothing else to say. And that they'd not draft a TE for once, shows they are content with him for now.

He will not get a 2nd contract. The thing is, would they actually release him, or keep him as he is some depth, and has the experience over all the other TE's. Then get a comp pick for him as yes, some team will sign him worthy of a 6th or 7th round pick.
Spann-Ford-he is also will be playing on his final contract year. Was making an early impact in camp before an injury took place. More of just a high end run blocker at this point. He also isn't guaranteed a roster spot.
Up and coming, and has shown some promise. But he still needs to be more of an overall TE. More so in the pass catching area. Will he show enough to overtake Schoonmaker. Or would he be a surprise trade candidate. Depending on the 2 UDFA's they signed.

Another PS year for him. He is a tweener type player, too small toy play full time TE, but can also play a few other gadget type positions.

He is jack of all trades type player. Can be used in a variety of ways. He is on the 53.

This is where it will be interesting in TC. Can one or both show enough to move Spann-Ford and Schoonmaker. As I doubt the move both to keep 2 rookies at TE on the roster. Unless they keep 4 TE's. Which means one less OL, or even DL or DB, depending if they keep 5 or 6 WR's.

Ferguson is your starter for better or worse. Having used a second and a fourth on the position, you’d figure it’d be a strength, but not really.

He reminds me of guys like Gerald Sensabaugh or Bradie James. Good, solid player but not at all spectacular.

I think the talent is there for Ferg to a point where he can play in this league for a while, he just isn’t all that consistent and does nothing exceptionally well.

Yeah, I'm not sure why you would bring up Bradie James he was one of our best middle linebackers I've seen in a while You know that missing piece The steady guy that is what they brought over, like Winters for some guys just really overlook what you think solid but not spectacular means..lol

Bradie James is sorely missed at the middle linebacker spot here because we haven't found one in a long time a healthy one that played steady If you want to put guys like that out there it's Hitchens and Wilson that duo steady healthy Probably should have not been let go but people like you think oh we can do better Nope that's not always the case they went over and at least one of them I know I've got a ring but they both played for Kansas City the irony here of guys leaving and getting rings because fans think their eyes see something that looks very average and what it just means is they're doing their job there's what they're supposed to do is what you're looking for over a flash guy..

I mean you missed out on mentioning guys like that that would be Jeff Heath, Tolbert, etc if you are using guy like Sensabaugh..

Absolutely was not Bradie James,

Bradie James tried to kiss me yesterday in my opinion was a great player he may not have been elite but he's one of the last healthy big actual middle linebackers that could do it all He literally ran down some of the best mobile quarterbacks of our time check out this video and tell me how he looks like a Jag to you?

Sure he was an elite that doesn't matter in this game and again they just brought over a guy just like that in winters not as a middle linebacker but he'll play some of that Sometimes those guys are the ones you need on your team not the flash player you think you're looking for because those are hard to find But equally hard to find is a steady player that does his job he's in the spots he's supposed to be and that was Bradie James in a nutshell..

Do agree there are role players on teams that are easily replaceable, but it wasn't Bradie James,,. That's almost like when people picked on Greg Ellis because of where he was drafted and it was unfair the person they took over him I think that was the whole Randy Moss thing But when you really look at his game Greg Ellis was a very steady player every bit as good as tank who by the way went to Seattle and got a ring last year when everyone says they thought he was washed selfish etc
.
Be careful about what fans believe versus what players really are...

cmon man, just last week the topic of trading schoonmaker was discussed in here. I was told we could get a 4th,.... yes, a FOURTH for him.. And then people want to discuss Jerry's mental state.

so, do you think it is possible to have Pickens, Cee Dee , (Dak and his contract) and then have a Bowers as well? Not a chance.

Ferguson is good and fits the offense perfectly. Triggs has a spectacular skillset from the videos Ive seen. Lets hope he hits for us.

Geez jazz!! I've never seen that many replies to all those posts in my life!!

Because Ferguson is good, not great, similar to those guys. Someone like Jay Ratliff as a comp would be much more questionable.

I’m not complaining. He is good enough, not great.

No I don’t expect greatness everywhere.

Exactly. It's like he gets a free pass. I wonder what he could do if he was featured for a game. 12-13 carries and 6-8 pass targets. Is he a weapon or just someone they're comfortable with?

I think he was someone that MM wanted to work into his offense but it just didn’t work out that way once things got going.

Maybe Pittsburgh will offer like a fifth for him and we can lose the ridiculous salary they decided to pay him for some reason.

Exactly. It's like they have two lists. If you are on the "good" list, they take care of you to a fault. If you are on the "sh!t" list, you aren't going to get any breaks here. Seems rare that anyone gets off either list, regardless of performance.

Yeah, but Bradie James is not one of those guys that belong in that category, Again I gave you other instances maybe it's just been a while since you've seen him play but I've been watching some of his old videos because I believe Barham's going to end up being a lot like him.

I mean do you need more videos to watch of Bradie James before you realize how much we miss that type of player especially at linebacker do we need to reference last year on what bad an average really looks like? The way Jay Ratliff was one of our better lineman so I think that you're memory is very flawed try some vitamins.. LOL

Think that you have mixed up with JAG or just an average player is and what it means as their roles on a team.. You can't always have a top heavy built roster guys that you keep mentioning or what actually makes your team better..

This is why teams like Seattle, New England made the Super Bowl last year with not a single player with double digit sacks yet they were in the top of that category one was in top five the other was in the top 10 of pass rush and sack numbers how is that that's right they're deeper with those types of players so I'm just saying I think that I understand what you're trying to say but you're using the wrong examples...

And I understand another name I would put in there would be Jalen Smith had all the talent in the world an injury set him back but there were several seasons he led or it was at least in the top five in tackles but that doesn't make him great it made him very average sometimes steady but he was just filler on the team, not Bradie James.

We have a difference of opinions on what players fit the category yes I fully understand what you're trying to say.. I believe Ferguson would actually Be better in a different offense last year he was trying to cover up a lot of bad tackles they weren't sending them out very deep because it couldn't block for very long and I think it hurt his numbers..

Believe this will be that year that says on a major decline or last year was an anomaly...
