I got faith in this guy. I love his energy. What you are seeing now are teething problems. If Jerry gives him carte blanche with personnel decisions I have no doubt he will make the hard ones. Give the man time and he will deliver.

Jerry's not going to give Garrett or anyone else carte blanche on personnel decisions.

I have to say, he spent a year as a QB coach in Miami and wasnt real good and 3 years as an OC and made bad calls and choices, now hes coach and nothing has changed, there is a pattern. Im a firm beleiver in the fact that you do have to give a coach a couple years to get there system in. but im not likeing the direction we are headed under him! just my thought!

I still have faith in Garrett, but not nearly as much as I had at the beginning of the season.

That was all you had to say. And so do I.... growing pains suck though.

You would have absolutely hated Landry, and Johnson then. Their first 19 games had worse than what we have seen from Garrett's first 19 games.

Yea but at the same time i went and looked and the rosters of those teams and Garrett has a much much more talented roster than what they had! Landry and Johnson built a team. And i cant take anything away from them, they were best of the best!!!

I want to see a better defense ( hopefully some additional d-backs ) someone to compliment Ware better than Spencer, at least on passing plays and a full season of FB leading our running game. It's early and he's made some questionable calls and decisions but with these injuries, I doubt any coach would have helped them. In the past, too much was asked of Tony or Tony was trying to overcome the lack of a decent running game and trying to force plays or just running for his life. He's doing very good now, with teams having to respect the run and pass.

One thing I don't think any coach should have to teach, is pride. No player or team should be allowed to walk into your stadium and show disrespect. That should never happen and I don't blame any coach or owner, that's on the players themselves. There are certain things you just shouldn't have to be taught. You don't have to be a thug or play dirty to be tough.

I'm all for Garrett but it's pretty ridiculous to compare the teams Landry and Jimmy took over to what Jason has taken over.

Garrett is learning just like the team is learning.

I just wish JJ would buy him a new watch!

Since when has Garrett had energy?

What kind of energy are you talking about?

I'm assuming you mean being demonstrative on the sidelines. No. He doesn't do that. Neither did Tom Landry. Neither did Bill Walsh. Neither did Tony Dungy. Neither did Bill Belichick and a whole list of great head coaches.

I'm more concerned with the work ethic kind of energy. The guy who burns the midnight oil breaking down film, Xs and Os, anything he can do to better his team.

I think Garrett has that. I've seen nothing to tell me he doesn't have that. But fans want him to take over a mess of a team, have no offseason, an abbreviated FA period where our cap funds are extremely limited, wave a magic wand and produce a Super Bowl contender his first year.

It doesn't work that way. It's a process. This is year 1. You have to give him time to build his team. And if we're still at this point two or three years from now, then we can make a change and try something else.

QFE. Brilliant post.

I keep hearing Garrett is some kind of football genius who preaches discipline and stacking good days upon each other. But all I see is someone who can't even manage the clock, is an average playcaller who gets too enthralled with the passing game and who oversees a team that is mistake prone and totally undisciplined and often unprepared.

But as long as he's billed to be a genius and the next Landry or Walsh, then I guess that's good enough and actual results are meaningless.

This is what's difficult about JG. He's obviously going to be a good coach at some point...the problem is whether or not Jerry and Co. are going to have to patience and wait it out so that that occurs here.

Hiring an OC would go a long way in helping that imo.
