Team Garrett

That was all you had to say. And so do I.... growing pains suck though.

You would have absolutely hated Landry, and Johnson then. Their first 19 games had worse than what we have seen from Garrett's first 19 games.

Totally different situations there. Landry had proven himself as a defensive coordinator for the Giants and Johnson had played on and coached college championship teams. So both had prior proven track records. What has Garrett proven other than he's academically smart?

Not entirely tongue in cheek.

Garrett took over a team that was 1-7 and was playing awful. I think some perspective may be in order. What if JJ had kept Wade and we finished at 1-15? or 3-13, 6-10?? But Garrett comes in and gets immediate results so instead you hold it against him?

I am saying that Johnson inherited a 3-13 team with some talent and Aikman is his hip pocket. Herschel Walker wasn't too shabby so there is a HOF QB, HOF WR, HOF RB- and you pretend the cupboard was bare? How many HOF players on the 2010 version?

We won't even talk about the NFL Trade of the Century that gave Johnson a shot in the arm skill wise with the 5 player 6 draft pick swap early in the season. Those 5 players were helpful, four of the 5 anyway.

Maybe my memory isn't great- but it ain't completely gone.

The team Jimmy took over was the single worst team in football. That HOF QB you mention was a wide eyed rookie. Irvin was a 2nd year player. Walker was being shipped to start the rebuild.

Jimmy didn't inherit the Hershel Walker trade. He created it.

That was a major rebuilding project. The team Garrett took over looked nothing like it. I'd like to pretend you have an intelligent point here but I can't. Your memory's either shot or you're too young to know any better.

"I spent my whole career hoping for a chance to throw, and now I get to call pass plays every single down to make up for it. I also preach accountability, but will throw anyone around me under the bus to cover up my mistakes. I also have coached 3 of the 5 largest collapses in franchise history in just one season. We're gonna stack one collapse on top of another here in all 3 phases of the game."
Sad but true.

Interesting point someone made on ESPN radio yesterday. I think it was Herman Edwards. When a team falters late in a game, the primary reason, he believed, was poor physical conditioning. If so, that adds just another layer of fail on top of what we have already.

Yes.

Because when I want to learn how to win in the NFL, I turn to Herman Edwards.

Yeah, 20 hour days are pure lazy creeping through.

:laugh1:

Yeah, I can feel the intensity burning from his eyes during his pressers! If you don't feel that than you're comatose. :D

The key here is for Jerry to continue allowing Garrett, Ryan, and Joe D get the right players in here so they can take the next step.

And believe that Mike Woicik doesn't have players in shape.

I'm anxious to see what he can do with a full offseason. He's been dang good at his job as long as I can remember.
