First off, I am not going to say the sky is falling. I am not going to say we are on our way to the SB yet either. I think those both go without saying.

1. As Cowboy Joe stated earlier - we need to pick up the practice intensity. I understand that no one wants to have injuries but JJ used to beat the hell out of his teams and I don't recall us being riddled with injuries. I played football from little leaque through four years of college and I am a firm believer that you have to practice hard - especially in the preseason when the players need to get reaclimated with the contact and the speed of the game.

2. I think the senior leadership on this team needs to step up in a big way. I have seen several mentions here about this team possibly being overconfident and I would have to agree. All this SB talk and this group has yet to win a playoff game. I think the coaches need to stop any SB talk right now and get ready for the season opener and take it one game at a time and not look down the road at the possibilities. I get the feeling that a large part of this team, regardless of what they say to be politically correct when the camers are rolling, feel they are great and will win on a week to week basis just by showing up. Ware, Witten, etc.. need to set the tone for this team.

3. The team needs to have ONE guy in charge. Either Wade is making the decisions, or Jerry is going to make the decisions. It appears that Jerry has a great deal of input on the day to day operations, and although I know it is his right to do that, I think it would be better if he distanced himself a bit and let his well paid coaches make the calls on who, what, where and why. JMHO...

4. This team is very undisciplined and has been for quite some time. I know that it is preseason but if our stupid penalties and missed assignments are not remedied in a hurry, they will surely come back to haunt us at the worst possible time. Good teams play with emotion but play smart and realize that their actions will have an impact on the entire team. Personal fouls, offside penalties, spiking the football after a great play, etc....are mistakes that can make the difference in the game. With the leaque wide competitiveness that is present today this is a must.

5. With the athletes we have on this team ST's should be a strength. I feel that once the season starts and the lower echelon players that are getting time in the capacity of ST's now will be gone and we will be much better. We need to be.

6. It bothers me a great deal that Romo was basically outplayed all week by Jay Cutler. From the practice reports that I have read, and after watching the game, Cutler appears to be much more focused and is much more comfortable running his offensive unit right now. I think TR is an outstanding talent that brings alot to the table but something is missing right now....I don't know if it is his concentration or maybe he is feeling the pressure of his position but something just isn't right. Make no mistake, this team will only go as far as he takes it.

I haven't looked forward to the start of the season with this much anticipation since the early 90's, but regardless of how much talent and depth are on this team, they need to pick up the intensity, spend the extra time to know their assignments cold, and play much smarter and all get on the same page or this is going to be a very disappointing season. That would be a travesty with the talent on this squad.

The problem with the leadership issue is that I don't think this team has anyone capable of assuming that role. Yeah, we've got guys like Romo, James, Witten and Ware, but they're basically in the same position as most people on the team. They're great-good players, but like pretty much everybody else on the team they've never won anything and don't know what it takes to win. After them you've got guys like Ellis and TO. Ellis is probably percieved as a crybaby and TO is probably a hard guy to hitch your wagon to after his last two stops. To me that leaves Zach Thomas. He hasn't won anything, but he seems like a guy that people would do well to follow. Problem is with this being his first year on the team, I don't expect many to.

I don't think I jumped on Romo I just stated that he was outplayed this past week by Cutler and is missing something right now.

That isn't an opinion, it is a fact.

Maybe the reason he was outplayed is becuase he is feeling the pressure of the position or is lacking concentration. As I stated, he is missing something right now. Even his accuracy has been a little suspect. I would say one has a great deal to do with the other.

Also, in the original post I said he was a great talent.

I am not all of a sudden saying he is no good I am just saying he is not playing up to his abilities right now. I guess you have been happy with his performance over the past week?

over the past week? How would I know what his performance over the past week has been? Practice is practice. It was not a week of practice with a gameplan for a game. It was the team running plays.

he missed a couple of throws last night. so what. he played two series.

trying to start a conspiracy theory that something is wrong I think is misguided. I would look for him to be sharp this week at home. If he is not then maybe he is struggling through arm fatigue or is forcing balls. Either way when all of the moving parts of this preseason become one in cleveland I would expect romo to be as sharp as ever. With the added weapons in felix jones, miles austin and possibly bennett I think Romo will be fine.

the guy is 19-7 as the starter. he has thrown 55 tds, 7100 yards and has a 96.5 qb rating if you are into that type of thing.

I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt over two series in a preseason game. Especially when one drive was blown by a bad call.

My biggest problem with this team at this stage is the number of penalties we are getting.

We did cut down on the pass interference penalties a bit vs. Denver, but we got other stupid penalties instead.

Frankly said, it's the penalties and turnovers that did us in vs. SD, and it's penalties and turnovers (the INT) that did us in vs. Denver.

Even playing a plain vanilla offense and defense.

I don't mind us playing plain vanilla offense and defense. I don't mind resting starters for extended periods. I don't mind the limited contact we've had thus far in practice. And I don't mind Romo not being as sharp as some expect at this stage of pre-season. And I don't mind the score at the end of a pre-season game.

All I want to see is better execution on STs, Offense, and Defense. And that means limiting penalties and turnovers and instilling discipline.

This is where I want Wade and the coaching staff to focus more on asap.

And how long have you been a Cowboy fan? This has been said time and again, but we've all succumbed to the fact that Jerrah is in charge. End of conversation.

4. This team is very undisciplined and has been for quite some time. I know that it is preseason but if our stupid penalties and missed assignments are not remedied in a hurry, they will surely come back to haunt us at the worst possible time. Um.... So, I guess Indy is going to suck this year since they aren't having a great preseason? When was the last time a SB was won in the preseason? Does anyone know what the preseason records were in regards to the '93, '94 and '96 SBs?

6. It bothers me a great deal that Romo was basically outplayed all week by Jay Cutler. From the practice reports that I have read, and after watching the game, Cutler appears to be much more focused and is much more comfortable running his offensive unit right now. Are you seriously saying that Cutler is better than Romo? C'mon man. It's preseason. Everyone is ready to break camp and get back home to some sense of normalcy. Put down the bong, needle, Kool-Aid or whatever it is that you're on. Don't read more into this game than you should. It is what it is.

He rewrote most of the Cowboys single season passing records in his first full season as starter. By mid season he'll probable pass Aikman's total 300 yard games. Maybe before his 30th career game. Yet, no pass here.

Unfortunately, the team has always had this since the Switzer days. Even Parcells had issues with the team taking stupid penalties.

They probably would have won that game if not for stupid penalties. They probably would have beaten the Giants if not for stupid penalties and other mental errors.

If they can't see what the Giants did with playing near error free ball then they better start thinkiing about scoring more points.

Still not quite the time to start crying and pulling hair out. And I've been away a couple of days. So what's with the Romo stuff? He really isn't getting bashed is he. He looks good.

It is almost unbelievable that people are jumping on Romo. Has everybody forgot about the crap we rolled out there at QB since Aikman retired. We had like 17 jags before we won the lottery with Romo.

Will he have bad games, maybe even a bad week of practice from time to time? Of course. However, I keep reading all these post complaining that he is not focused, Cutler is outplaying him, ect.....

I guess people want to go back to the days of Hutch, Henson, Vinny, and Bledsoe leading us to 5 win seasons.
