How can you watch the video with a straight face and not admit that Byron is afraid of contact? Scandrick who was burned on the play tried to make a tackle. Heath who took a bad angle as he normally does tried to make a tackle. Byron didnt even try! Most of us can live with a guy making a mistake if he does it going 100 mph, this ***** didnt even put forth effort

I say he's not afraid of contact when I see the countless times he makes difficult tackle inside the box that most FS don't make. Or like the TD run that Ajayi should have had last week where...Byron was the guy that chased him down and saved the TD.

Heath got destroyed in coverage and O-Scan missed the tackle, followed by a badly missed tackle from Woods. Byron hustled, but Allen had a 5 yard head start on him.

He gets blame b/c of his lack of effort.

Here's your guy, your vet, your leader on the backend slowing up a yard away from Allen instead of finishing the tackle. This happens once or twice a game with him where his piss poor tackling gets exposed.

Puh-leaze.

He hustled to Allen who had a 5-yard head start on him, he slowed down a little in anticipation of Woods actually tackling Allen or at least getting a hand on him and slowing him down.

This is ridiculous. We are blaming a guy for somebody else's poor coverage and 3 other guys badly missing a tackle on a WR who had a 5-yard head start on him.

If this team picks up his 5th yr option, I will be done with this franchise. I haven't missed a game in 18 years, I haven't missed a preseason game in 15 years. I grew up in the shadows of Texas Stadium. If they continue to invest in his scrub, I will be done. Simple as that. I can't support soft football.
He is an over rated bum. Waste of a pick and typical of the girls Garrett thinks are the RKG's....sickening.

I didn't have a problem with his play today. He gave up the TD pass to Henry, but it was a short one and there wasn't much pressure. He gave up another pass, but I am not certain he gave up that pass as it looked like a blown coverage by the linebacker because the LB's were missing assignments as well.

You never have a problem with his play sooooo...

Whatever man. Keep burying your head in the sand. For 3 years I've maintained a consistent opinion on him. I used to go back and forth with a dozen posters who shared your opinion in every Bysoft Jones thread. Now a majority of this site has seen the light. We deserve better than this.

Not true.

I thought he was awful against the Broncos and said so many times on this very forum.

People who have claimed he is awful off today's game are basing it on a play where he wasn't covering Keenan Allen and 3 guys missed tackles on Allen and Byron wasn't able to run down Allen who had a 5-yard head start on him.

I mean...THAT is their argument for him sucking.

Meanwhile our corners got eaten alive, Heath and Woods were horrendous, Hitchens and Durant were missing assignments and we didn't have a pass rush. But...it's Byron who is the focal point. Particularly after he had a great game against the Eagles.

Nobody in the NFL thinks this way about Byron Jones. Your people that have 'seen the light' are basing it off him being a former first round pick and the team losing. This team would be just as lost without Byron as they are without Sean Lee.

He does everything well except play the game. Doesn't appear to have much in the way of instincts, but the elite athletic skills are certainly there. He is not in any way shape or form a game changer. We need game changers on defense.

Honestly, he is just a bad player but he is not a concern right now.

Just another roll of the dice that our scouting department got way wrong.

He is not a quality safety. At all.

That said, we have other bigger issues.

You went all the way back to the 2nd game of the season when the whole team crapped the bed. lol like I said before you never have a problem with his play. He is average at best. But his pew pew celebration is excellent.

Not his fault he's a corner playing safety. They didn't learn with Alan Ball.....Ball has a rep of being a bad player....and he was a safety but as a 3rd or 4th corner he was serviceable.

I don't get the Byron hate. I mean....I get discussing his negatives....he's flawed. But I don't get the "I'm done with this team if they pick up his 5th year option....". I'm sorry but that's moronic......you should be done with this team because of its inept coaching. More importantly....you should be done with this team because of its owner. But because of Byron Jones? I don't get it. Probably never will.

You’ve seen nothing wrong with his play since the 2nd week? Yet I’m moving the goal posts... lol got it cupcake

Outside of the penalties against the Chiefs...not really. He played fantastic against the Cardinals, Packers, Niners and Eagles.

You'll need to actually point out where he was bad and how that relates to the average FS in the league so you can have a point.

YOU claimed that I NEVER complain about his play and that wasn't true. So YOU were the one that got all butthurt about it and moved the goal posts because it doesn't fit YOUR agenda.

That's a YOU problem, not a me a problem.

You agenda is to be clearly wrong then. I'm not the one blaming Byron for the Allen TD. You are and it speaks volumes to your lack of credibility when it comes to analyzing football.

I'll continue supporting my Longhorns. A team with a head coach, Tom Herman, who doesn't accept anything less than 100% effort until the whistle. Defenders swarm to the ball and finish plays. They don't slow up because they assume their teammate will make the tackle.
