I love that Brent's date for returning is right at the start of the last quarter of the season. If what Carter said is true about him being in shape that could bode very well for the d-line especially if Crawford proves he can play well inside this season. I know it feels right now like we're riding the gravy train on biscuit wheels but I still think that this team will still be in a dog fight to make the playoffs at the end of the year. But you know given time by the final stretch of the year we could get much better defensively . Spencer, Melton, Lawrence, Okoye more snaps for Crawford at DT as long as we don't end up with any of those damned season ending injuries...

He has previously been working out at a pro facility to re-condition himself to play. We'll see by week nine or so.

This will be interesting to watch. I would assume they will evaluate Brent and compare his performance to that of Hayden. They are essentially the same type of player and don't think we need both on the active roster.

This says that he can't practice until week 9, but I'm fairly certain that previous reports were that he could practice week 7, or maybe it was after week 7.

He's never played in this defense and I think he's going to need more than 2 weeks of practice time.

As we go deeper into the season we need fresh bodies for the Dec run. In the past years I think our front 7 was running on fumes. I hope with Spencer, Lawerence and Brent returning it'll provide much needed depth and fresh legs for late season run.

ex-players is five-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman Andre Gurode, who has become a workout partner and mentor of sorts for former Cowboy nose tackle Josh Brent at the Michael Johnson Performance Athletic-Training Center in McKinney.

“He’s looking good,” Gurode said of Brent. “Physically strong. Motivated. Very much centered. He’s ready to contribute in any way. He’s been working his butt off. He’s looked very impressive.”

Is this a first for the Cowboys? A player finding a slot on the team that, essentially he has not earned as in working hard in training camp?

Perhaps I am bean too hard on the ahem, lad, but, whatever his talent level right now, since when do players just waltz back on to the team (after more than a year) even without earning it?

Is this a Jerra look-at-me-I-am-a-great-guy thing? Will Brent truly half to compete or is he a publicity stunt?

Brian Waters? Anthony Spencer this season? Amobi Okoye is not too far behind. Mike Jenkins did it a while back with his shoulder injury, irrc. Who else?

more depth, and the reporters are too busy watching our play to worry about him...
him and crawford may be pretty darn good next to each other...

I thought I seen something where Brent and the league worked it out, that he can start practicing 2 weeks earlier than planned. When ever that may be. Which sounded like it could be soon.

I hope those players you mentioned were not fresh off of jail time and a felony conviction.

Except for Waters, both Spence and Okoye have spent the better part of two years off the field, but were on the roster. I think the fact they've been of the field for as long as they did makes a good comparison.

I like that.

+1 for good use of literary devices.
