Teammates seem to think Brent will be ready

I still think we need a DE who can turn the corner but I've thought all along we'd be 'ok' if we got Melton, McClain and Spencer back. Still not sure about those guys but we are getting some pressure. And that will get better as we go along unless we get hit by too many injuries.

What did you think of Lawrence coming out?

With Brent back, nothing can stop us now.
Me? I'm saving my money for Super Bowl tickets.

(this was for the benefit of the Brent swooners. You've been a great audience. I mean it. Drive home safely.)

Good! We need a guy that big to play the 1 technique inside and as far as I've seen we have no one else on this roster as big as him. If he's in shape like they've been saying and he's around that weight that's actually even more encouraging! That means he's around Vince Wilfork's size.
I heard on the ticket he isn't in the best shape and needs to lose about 15 pounds or so

I think it's more important that he be in playing shape rather than worry exactly what he's weighing. I think he was playing at around 320 though before he got himself into trouble. Our next biggest guy in the d-line is only around 300. To me, we need more size at the 1 tech & Brent certainly can bring that.

One thing that I am noticing is the anti-Brent crowd is now reduced to semantic arguments. You cannot go back to his 2012 play and talk specifics because then you would realize that he was a prototypical NT that was dominant in the run game. No pass rush moves past the bull rush but he was often appreciably stronger in base and upper body as opposed to the OG and C he was competing against. Watching the Giants try to block him is kinda funny.

Instead what we are seeing is semantic inventions and nonsense statistics. Emotionally based generalizations like journeyman -when he was a third year prospect when the accident happened,- made up percentages of less than 50%, and the like.

What we do not see is substantive football discussion from the negative.

you asked to keep this football related. When you take the non football related related stuff out of it it reduces the semantic argument. my objection to Brent is and always has been done on football issue. I didn't think he was that great of a player but that's not why I don't want him on this team.

I'm not one of those people that confuse pressure with sac. I think that we've been getting pressure all season long just cant quite
get to the quarterback to finish the deal

I thought at the time he was just starting to play well but I mean we'll never know what would have happened. I'm hoping he can come in and at the least strengthen the depth on the D-line.

I didn't ask for anything. But my point is that there is a lack of any good football arguments not to bring him in. I understand and respect your opinion elsewise.

No, it just means he's fat and out of shape.

No, it just means he's over his playing weight although he is probably obese by medical standards. He may be out of shape and I'd bet a tad on that but we don't really know what kind of shape he's in. The players seems to think he'll be in shape.
