Teams already interested in Jason Garrett for their HC position?

I feel that Garrett believes he will be in line as our HC, I don't think he'll be going anywhere anytime soon.

If Wade has success I don't expect him to be fired. I think Jason has an understanding that Jerry has plans for the future that involves Jason as the HC that Jason will be stay around.

I'd say actual job trumps "understand" any day.

not all of them...some HC jobs in this league are not worth it

only way JG leaves is if he fails as OC here...

Usually that's true. However, Redball is smart. He has been around the NFL pretty much all his life. It is difficult for a young coordinator to take over the head coaching job, Payton in N.O. was an exception last year. However, Sean had been in the NFL coaching for several years.

I think Red will get some interest, but he is smart, and a winner. He knows enough to see his best shot a long term sucess as a head coach is to wait, the offers will always be there if he's good. By then, Wade will be ready to retire, or on his way out. I see Red as the Boy's next head coach. :starspin

Spot on. He was a player in Dallas and Jerry had faith in him to let him run the offense. I am pretty sure he loves where he is position wise currently and if we all know that he will be the next head coach Garrett surely knows it. He isn't going anywhere soon except maybe to buy a bigger truck to take his money to the bank. He is young and bright and could easily be the next head coach for 20 years.

I wouldn't pay either of these two. Yikes. I thought pros had to be reasonably attractive?

He will be made assistant head coach, given a big raise, and privately assured he will replace Phillips when the time comes. I'be been saying for some time now that I think JJ is planing on opening that new stadium with former fan favorite and current hot coaching prospect Jason Garrett as head coach.

He was a player in NY as well -- and he's from that general area...

I would like to see Wade win us the SB this year and next year, and then retire and let Garrett take over with that same DC we have.

I can dream can't I? :D

I don't think Garrett will go anywhere. He's just getting his legs underneath him as an OC. How prepared does he really feel to become the HC and thus also be in charge (expect him to bring in a good DC) of a whole team. He's got a lot to learn about running the whole show (offense/defense/ST). Besides, he's got longer ties to the Cowboys then anywhere else and also think he knews Jerry intends him to be the Cowboy HC not very far off & Jerry will make it worth his while to stay around.

Agree that I see Garrett was being our HC for the next 20 or more years ala Tom Landry once Wade retires.

Perfectly stated.

Here's my farfetched theory:

Jerry hires Red even before a HC is in place. Basically Jerry tells him that you don't go from QB coach to Head Coach in one move and Red agrees. So Jerry says he will hire you now, and you will be my OC for 2-3 years, and then my HC after that.

In the mean time.........Jerry needs a fill-in HC until Red is ready. He finds a guy that for the most part the fans won't have a problem with, but is still desparate enough for a HC job that he will agree to coach for 2-3 years until his "man" is ready. What can Wade do? He wants to be a HC and he had no clue at what would eventually go down in SD, so he agrees.

It's the perfect plan.......if things go well.....it probably means that Red has alot to do with it and he becomes the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys when Wade decides to "retire on top" per his "Agreement" with Jerry. If things go bad, it probably means Red has alot to with it and Jerry cuts bait and fires the whole bunch and starts over again. BRILLIANT!

Andy Reid would disagree.

I think he will stick around too.

However, he also played with the Giants and I'd be real surprised if they aren't looking for a new HC after this year. NY is a big stage too, and Red could probably really help Eli (assuming he could free up the time with all his other responsibilities).

Again, though, I think JJ will do whatever is necessary to keep him.
