Teams already interested in Jason Garrett for their HC position?

Here's my farfetched theory:

Jerry hires Red even before a HC is in place. Basically Jerry tells him that you don't go from QB coach to Head Coach in one move and Red agrees. So Jerry says he will hire you now, and you will be my OC for 2-3 years, and then my HC after that.

In the mean time.........Jerry needs a fill-in HC until Red is ready. He finds a guy that for the most part the fans won't have a problem with, but is still desparate enough for a HC job that he will agree to coach for 2-3 years until his "man" is ready. What can Wade do? He wants to be a HC and he had no clue at what would eventually go down in SD, so he agrees.

It's the perfect plan.......if things go well.....it probably means that Red has alot to do with it and he becomes the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys when Wade decides to "retire on top" per his "Agreement" with Jerry. If things go bad, it probably means Red has alot to with it and Jerry cuts bait and fires the whole bunch and starts over again. BRILLIANT!

Very likely scenario where everyone wins.......well everyone except the other 31 teams in the league

I think he will stick around too.

However, he also played with the Giants and I'd be real surprised if they aren't looking for a new HC after this year. NY is a big stage too, and Red could probably really help Eli (assuming he could free up the time with all his other responsibilities).

Again, though, I think JJ will do whatever is necessary to keep him.

I agree with Leon on this -- except I'd say Jerry will try to do whatever he can to keep him -- but if Wade has done an outstanding job he isn't going to fire him - it would cause a defensive mutiny.

Many folks have the perspective that the Cowboy's HC job is the most desirable in the NFL - I don't think every coach looks at it that way. Many would not appreciate Jerry's "hands on" approach. That approach is fine when you've got a strong guy like Parcells or even a guy like Wade who knows how to roll with the punches. A young coach might not flourish under that sort of management.

I still maintain that Jerry is trying to be too "cute" here with his moves. If he wanted Garrett as HC in the future he should have hired him to be HC in the present.

Why would Garrett go somewher else for a HC position when he has a team like the Cowboy right now? Next year? You think he would want to go to a Giant's team that is totally messed up...?

The guy is a a damn scholor..and a football player! He has a QB in place with the Boyz, he has a very young team...why go somewhere and deal with all the headaches from trying to RE-BUILD a team when he already has most of the pieces in place right in Dallas for the long haul? This team is going places!

Money cannot buy you love...! Commitment can..

I would like to see Wade win us the SB this year and next year, and then retire and let Garrett take over with that same DC we have.

I can dream can't I? :D

When the time comes, Wade Phillips will retire, and the new coach (Garrett) will make Phillips' son the quarterback coach. Wade Phillips will retire wealthy.

:)

Young Coordinators that excel are future HC candidates. RedBall could be hot this offseason.

I hope Romo is "hot" this season...if not then Garrett won't look as good...I think...

Why?

Because he MAY get the HC job here in the future?

You don't get many shots at HC. Jerry didn't have enough faith in him to give him the head job this off-season. It would be stoopid for Garrett to pass up a HC job somewhere else.

I would hope that Jason will realize he needs to learn the ins and outs of coaching, and that may take a couple of years.

Jerry's initial plan for Garrett was never going to be a few years -- it was 1 year under BP that he wanted for Garrett. BP leaves, Garrett becomes the head coach. Jerry was sold on that before last season ended.

I disagree with you there. Did you really think Jerry was gonna hand a guy with two years of coaching experience in Miami the head coaching job?
Also, it would be crazy for Garrett to leave with so little experience. It would be like someone who worked as a pc tech taking on a job at Microsoft as an computing engineer.

Give him a couple more years, then he may consider it and yes I would expect this to be the place he makes that next step.

i wonder if he will leave cuz of the money he might get

Garrett a hot commodity

The Cowboys soon might have a dilemma on their hands: keeping offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.

Under Garrett, the Dallas offense has been flourishing, with 75 points in two games. They are passing and running the ball well, and quarterback Tony Romo looks like the real deal. NFL owners always are looking for the next hot offensive mind, and Garrett will go to the front of the line of coaching candidates if the Cowboys stay hot.

The problem for Dallas owner Jerry Jones is that he would like to groom Garrett to be his head coach once the Wade Phillips era is over. But if Garrett - a former Dallas backup quarterback who was the Dolphins' quarterbacks coach last season - gets bites in the offseason, Jones will have a difficult time persuading him to stay for a job that is currently occupied.

One thing Jones has in his favor is cash flow. Perhaps a hefty raise could pacify Garrett and keep him from looking at potential head coaching jobs.

I said at the time Jethro:eek:: hired him (Garrett) to be the OC that he should've went ahead and made him HC. If the 'Boys have a good season and win a playoff game and Garrett get some HC offers what's Jethro:eek:: gonna do fire Wade and make Garrett HC. That'd be pretty classless, that kinda thing would come back to bite you in the hiney, (see Notre Dame) and yes I know Weis was not with them while Ty was there so it's not exact. Hopefully Jethro:eek:: would make him the highest paid OC in history and hope he'd take it!

According to FSN Pro Football Preview.

Lets see.....

Garrett runs the offense.

Wade runs the defense.

The offense is the #1 scoring offense in the NFL and the defense blows.

If I could only keep one guy, which guy am I going to keep???

Translation: Garrett is going nowhere.:)

He was a player in NY as well -- and he's from that general area...

and his father was a scout for Cowboys for many years... he grew up a fan. He also said leaving the Cowboys was the hardest decision he ever made in his life...

Its pretty obvious what Jerry would do. Make Garrett the highest paid coordinator in the game and tell him that as soon as Wade is gone he is guaranteed the ehad coaching job.

The absolute worst case scenario is that Garret decides to leave anyway and we promote Sparano to OC and its not as if that guy isnt a great coach too.

no way Jason leaves. his dream job is here and Jerry will pay the man so he wont leave until its time for him to be the HC. nobody in the NFL would match what jerry would offer him!

I wouldn't pay either of these two. Yikes. I thought pros had to be reasonably attractive?

Spend some time watching the truck stop hookers work, and you'll never think that again... for that matter, just watch the Jerry Springer show for a few weeks, LOL...

The ugly hookers still get business because they work cheap... :D

That said, the two you linked us two will be giving me nightmares tonight... thanks a lot...

He'll stay here as he will be the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys...
