His catch radius hurts him. Tough to 'be open' when you have to put a ball right on the money. We also finally did the smart thing by stop having Witten run the checkdown route and gave that responsibility more to Beasley and Murray because Witten isn't going to break many tackles and turn a 3-yard pass into a 10 yard gain. We also ran the ball, a ton, so we weren't going to get many passes to our Z-receiver. Especially when the X is Dez Bryant.

I think in the end we have to remember what got us where we were last season...run the ball and throw over the top. Force defenses to double and triple Dez and play a lot of soft, deep zone and continue to punish them by running the ball and throwing short patterns to the RB, Beasley and intermediate patterns and past the chains patterns to Witten. If you start to try and get Williams more involved who is more of a deep threat style of receiver, it kinda takes away from what we do best.

YR

I agree and all I ask of the guys is make the play when it comes your way. Much more interested in winning than what each WR stats are. I think there are some games Williams is more involved based on defensive schemes and other weeks where he will not be.

Romo also looks for Witten and now Beasley as prime targets due to trust. Sometimes he goes to them too much IMO.

Well teams try to give us nothing deep down the sideline and Garrett continuously runs them deep down the sideline.

Just a matter of time before people want Devin Street, George Farmer, or Antwan Goodley as the starter alongside Dez. It's the new shiney toy effect.

Two seasons in a row Terrance Williams has started the season strong, but fades badly in the second half of the season. I wonder what is going on with this kid. I'm in the camp that wouldn't be opposed to upgrading the WR2 position, but I do like this kid. I wish he would become a more reliably consistent catcher who uses his hands rather than his body.

We're going to need to lean on him more this year, so I hope he is there for us.

Broken finger mid season.

Good in playoffs.

Thread fail.

Personally I don't think anything is wrong with him. I just think last season Cole Beasley and Jason Witten ended up being apart of the offense more towards late in the season.

Yep.

When you do your job as a number two in drawing coverage........that's not disappearing.

Other teams were game planning against this kid, guarantee ya.

He had some clutch catches that earned him that right.

He's our big play WR, and he's had a lot of them in 2 years. Sorry that I don't want to rid of him for a guy that supposedly has a better catch radius than Williams. Give me a guy that can take a simple slant to the house or improvise with Romo and get a first down on a 3rd and 20 over a guy who makes a sweet highlight reel catch on the sideline that only gains 6 yards. Leave that crap to the Amendola's and Brandon Lloyd's of the league.

It took Bryant two and a half seasons to come along, and he has a far higher ceiling than most receivers in this league. We're worrying about our #3 not having 50 receptions for over one thousand yards on a team that spreads the ball on offense?

It truly is post-draft.

I can't agree with the OP on T Will's production in his young career but I do feel like T Will does a lot of body catches as oppose to catching the ball with his hands.

When other areas improve people are hell bent on finding other areas to complain or concern troll about.

Sad...But true.

Very true.
For one, being the off season. Or even during the season at times. Seems people want to find things to complain about players instead of finding the good or potential they bring to the team.

McFadden and Ryan Williams and Randle all get their share of complaints, then it has been Devin Street, and now, once again, Terence Williams.
At least we don't have the Jason Garret complaints like last year, even Jerry hate has calmed down.
And the Mo complaints will continue as well as Carr.

Can't wait until TC...like all of us...

Any film gurus that can find a body vs. hand catch ratio...I seem to remember a BIG hands catch at Seattle last year....
Someone started this body catch thing last year, and it grew like a weed....we need some weed killer...LOL

Michael Irvin was a body catcher, especially on slant routes. The body catching narrative is overplayed.
