I was thinking he would turn into a very good #2. Now I'm leaning towards a very good #3 or average #2.

Probably fair. He can have big games when he's allowed to work in his complementary role. When he's forced to be the featured guy and/or when Brandon Weeden's his QB, he'll disappear on you.

Romo has no trouble getting him the ball and making big plays. I guess it's his fault for not producing with Weeden after ONE game.

T-Will only had 41 catches catches last year, including the playoffs.

(All stats include playoff games)

He had 0 games where he had 100 or more yards.

He had 1 game where he had 80 or more yards.

He had 8 games where he had 50 or more receiving yards.

He had 2 games where he had 4 or more receptions.

He had 10 games where he had 40 or LESS receiving yards.

He had 13 games where he had 2 or LESS receptions.

But losing Romo is Terrance's current problem?

Twill can't operate without dez, he simply can't beat number 1 cb's on a regular basis and couple that with his catching style and it doesn't bode well.

Once dez comes back he will shine again.

You know when you can really judge when a WR can play or not?

When Brandon Weeden's his QB.

I mean, what more do you need?

Really?

It wasn't too hard to judge Josh Gordon when he made a late push for rookie of the year in 2012, or when he led the league in receiving in 2013, in both cases with Brandon Weeden as his QB.

you cant catch the ball if they dont throw it at you ! lol

He doesnt get many thrown his way.
The other thing is you need to use a WR to whatever his strengths are .
TW is good on slants and crossing patterns .
But the cowboys will have him running all sorts of routes, mostly to the sideline.
So it is how they use him that matters too.
Cowboy WR routes are not that great, most catches are when romo extends a play and wr ad libs to get open.

Alvin Harper never had more than 36 catches in a season with the Cowboys.

It's true he was never supposed to be our #1 WR but he has been just awful this year. I was hoping this was the year he really put things together, but so far I've been extremely disappointed.

Terrance Williams - 9/17 for 144 yards, 1 TD
Devin Street - 1/3 for 18 yards

Cole Beasley - 12/15 for 122 yards
Lance Dunbar - 21/23 for 215 yards
(Note: Darren Sproles - 15/20 for 118 yards)
Jason Witten - 21/25 for 181 yards
Joseph Randle - 6/6 for 74 yards
Dez Bryant - 5/7 for 48 yards
Darren McFadden - 3/3 for 40 yards
Gavin Escobar - 4/5 for 24 yards

Players who need to be more involved in the offense
Players who need to be less involved in the offense

Also they need to go ahead and bring in a veteran wide receiver to pair with Williams until Bryant returns. Trying to trot out Devin Street like he is a legitimate receiver isn't helping anyone.

People complaining about Street don't even know that Butler played most of the snaps as the other outside WR against the Falcons, not Street (due to a swollen ankle).

T. Williams is a #2 WR. End of story. Green Bay has as better #2 that is now #1 but he gets paid 10M per.

That's because Cobb is MUCH better than Williams. He deserved every penny he got and is actually producing as the number one.

No doubt, although Beasley is the co-number 2 WR and he can do a lot of what Cobb does because is most often in the slot.

The bummer is that James Jones was available for free. They Cowboys would just have needed to pay him a little more than the veterans minimum that Green Bay is paying him. He is 12 of 15 for 219 yards and has 4 TDs; although, he was be 0 for 0 with Weeden as the QB unless they gave him 3 yards routes.

Indeed. If Romo were healthy, and only Dez was out, the team would be taking a lot more heat for not bringing in Jones, and the T-Dub threads would be even nastier.

It happens to all WRs. I remember when TO completely regressed for 3 games back in 2008 (StLouis, Tampa, NYG).

Larry Fitzgerald's head was firmly in his *** last year and really sabotaged Lindley's opportunities. Fitz cost them a playoff game and #1 seeding they way he disappeared down the stretch. The Light is on again this year though.

Hell Dustin Vaughn may still have been here if AJ Jenkings would have stepped up

He's an occasional big play guy, mostly in man coverage on a blitz or on a broken play with Romo scrambling.

I would prefer a #2 who's a possession receiver who runs routes, uses his body to screen, fights for the ball, has good hands, and moves the chains, Witten WR. There are actually plenty of those guys available every year in FA and the draft because if they aren't seen as fast or dynamic enough to be a possible star, they are expendable. But when you have a superstar like Dez that teams are going to try and take away, you need a steady #2 possession receiver, imo.

Side note, who expected GB to struggle when they lost Jody Nelson....holy crap! Rogers is simply amazing. That streak of no int's at home is just not explainable.

That sounds more like a field stretcher who will score a few TDs, but certainly not a possession receiver that will move the chains when Dez is doubled.
