Texans to interview Will McClay

I would bet a large sum of money he will be returning.

thought he was staying? was that inaccurate or is this info old?

He is not going to Houston, their front office is inept/dysfunctional as ours. Rick Smith is taking the year off, he might just be a stand-in until he returns or they find a new job for him then.

Now, maybe he goes in with permission to find a new HC and fire O'Brien with a nice guaranteed contract. I don't see that happening though.

He'd be crazy not to go. He would be a lot closer to winning a ring with the Texans, (as much as I hate to admit it), than he will ever be here in Dallas. They have a budding star QB, a real super star, elite WR, arguably the best defense in the NFL, (when Watt and company return), and the official title of GM. Add and NFL caliber HC and DC, and the decision should be easy to take the job.

I sometimes wonder if people are sane or if they really just don't follow any other team.

JJ Watt. has played 8 games with 1,5 sacks and ~12 tackles in 2 seasons.
Chances are good he will never be right.

The QB looked awesome but suffered a terrible injury and may be a year plus away from being fully healthy.

The team hasn't won more than 9 games in like 6 seasons.

They lack 1st and 2nd round picks, need OL and DB help badly.

If he is interviewing it is a real threat. Like I stated before Houston is the city where McClay went to college.
I expect Dallas to match any financial package and it's possible
McClay is just being smart and keeping his name out there but anyone thinking it's greater than 50/50 he stays now is prolly wrong:(

So Dallas gives permission but Philly does not. Typical, but I believe in this case he is interviewing with them simply to get the financial numbers which Jerry has already agreed to match or beat. I can't see them giving the permission without this type of deal in place. I'm fairly confident he will be back. If he takes the job there, there are even bigger problems in Dallas than even the biggest pessimists here imagine.

You guys never cease to amaze me. I could break down all the personnel moves over the Will McClay years as the assistant to the assistant to the actual GM and show you it's not all that great but you'll still look to him like he's Ron Wolf on PEDs.

I can just imagine the hysteria if he does leave. Mourning a figment of your imagination.

What are we really losing if he goes? What is so great about the state of the team now as opposed to 10 years ago?

Philly only blocked the interview until their playoff run is over, so basically next week this time.
