I agree. Of course this is an extreme example of someone committing heinous crimes and actually being guilty. What if someone is falsely accused? Not this particular guy who got what he deserved, but a hypothetical U.S. citizen in another country. That is why the questions or objections were raised. The recognizing of treaties and such falls under "abide by their laws".

I think we are wasting our time. I should have known better.

I don't think they understand what you and I are talking about...that or they understand and just ignore it.

It is not a matter if the guy is a monster, not a matter if he is guilty or not guilty, not a matter if others don't do it so why should we...it is a matter of some objecting because of treaties we have signed as a nation and therefore part of our constitution.

Not everyone that objected to it is someone defending the guy no matter how that may be perceived.

The US Supreme Court rules on this.

They should have given him to the family of the girl.

I know if I were her family I would love to get my hands on the guy.

I can be a pretty sick individual. In a past life I would have happily volunteered to off these kinds of sick people.

It makes me furious thinking about the evil of some people. Even more so now that I'm a father to a beautiful little girl.

Justice was done but not done justly.

Ted Bundy did a million times worse then this guy did. Bundy was given every opportunity to defend himself in court. But this guy is Mexican, so the standards are different.

Ted was a legal US Citizen and the specific treaty would not be something Ted or his lawyers could use.

I get the point you are making but it was kind of a bad comparison.

The treaty you refer to is mentioned in the article quoted in the OP. It has something to to with state law enforcement officers failing to advise foreigners of their consular rights as required under the Vienna treaty.

Apparently, this happens all the time but is against international law based on a treaty that the U.S. signed and is supposed to abide by. But I'm not a lawyer, so I don't know...

And even if it was done, I don't think it would have changed the outcome in this specific case. I don't think him getting help from his consulate or them bringing up his sexual abuse as a child would have changed his eventual finding of guilt and the death penalty. I think justice would have eventually been served and our full obligations to treaties we signed would have been met.

And when will Mexico stop violating US laws? While their Government helps and encourages illegal immigration into this country? Sorry but I'm tired of being craped on by Mexico. We give them billions of dollars and get nothing in return. US Supreme Court ruled that is the law of the land.

Agreed...the guy was going to go down and rightfully so, it was just a matter of doing things the right way by delaying it a bit.

I think the Supreme Court essentially said their hands were tied in the matter and new legislation was needed to clear up some things, so they had no choice but to rule the way they did.

Again, this is not only about this specific case and Mexico. It is about the bigger picture and holding ourselves to a higher standard.

I like crapes. :D

Believe me there will be many who will complain because this man was executed and how unjust we are.
See California and Massachusetts as places were there would be an uproar right now.

Thank You Texas

We held a murder accountable for his actions is what we did. I don't see that we lowered a standard he was given a fair trial he was given an attorney to represent him and a jury who came to a unanimous decision. That is more than what most will get in any country.

Thank goodness the Supreme Court didn't intervene just because Obama asked them to. None of his business. And about time this human scum finally got what he deserved - a permanent dirt nap. And he's finally off our tax dollar support, which is good.

No doubt. If you commit capital murder in the state of Texas you will be held accountable for your actions. I hear some who say life in prison would be better yet find it strange that these people convicted will go to all lengths to keep their sorry life alive and would gladly take live over death.

And yet Texas is in the Top 16 States in national murder rates.
