so explain losing to Kansas. And several others whose talent is STILL less than Texas. Plus the fact if Sark was a good coach are they not able to make up the difference in talent if the edge is not all that great?
Bottom line is that Sark is a lousy coach no matter how you try and explain it away.

The Alabama fans were saying similar things after Saban's first season. College coaches need 2-3 recruiting cycles. I guarantee you that when Sark has "his guys" and more talent in his system, things will turn around. He gets another year minimum. If you are Texas fan, you should used to losing and have some patience by now.

LOL, patience isn't a virtue to Horns fans because they feel they deserve better. Most were shocked that Saban wouldn't bite on the same deal LV gave Gruden but they don't get the coaches network, the NFL has one as well, and these guys know a lot more about what's going on within the program and why the team is looking for a new HC.

Saban has the best coaching job in America but he created that by winning and being the only one that could ever be compared to Bear Bryant. He has the largest coaching staff in sports and just adds any he feels like adding. And Bama is smart, they leave him the hell alone and let him run his program.

They either need the job like McC and they're willing to work within the system or they go in knowing it's at best a 50/50 deal but they will get some walkaway money and another job quickly.

There are a few like Sam Pittman and Ed Orgeron that live for that job. Orgeron was willing to stay on after being fired during the season, after delivering one of the best teams in college football history only two years prior.

There has been a system of good old boys and high school coaches within the UT system going back to Royal. Royal kept the hood ole boys out of his office by winning and signing enough of the state recruits to keep the good ole boys and coaches content.

Well, i'm not sure what program you are referencing or if are just making a blanket statement. The fact is that the AP final 20 poll every year bears a strong correlation to the average of the recruiting rankings over the 3 previous seasons. Great coaches have bad years b/c talent on the field matters. Just ask Dabo Swinney.

UT has too many cooks in the kitchen just because they are wealthy. It is a tough job keeping the alumni boosters happy, just ask SMU. And A&M should have been nailed as well for Eric Dickerson.

When UT hired Strong, one of those alums, Red McCombs (true to his nickname) openly opposed his hiring, and most people knew why. Then he starts making life hard on Charlie with some of his good ole boy buddies. "Remember the Titans" could have been Charlie's story except without the success.

UT has a terrible reputation behind the scenes which is why the AD's said Texas making this move wasn't a surprise but OU was. It's not the people who actually work for UT, it's the heavy money boosters getting heavy handed. Some people just cannot stop the quest for power.

OU has been better at keeping their alumni with money happy without letting them get too much power. Their hands off the HC has had some backlash though with the incidents under Switzer and Stoops but they let the HC do what the HD does.

Wonder if Sark thinks he should have stayed at Bama just one more year?

Ewers is a great land but he has zero collegiate experience and wasn't in line to play for tOSU anytime soon thus the transfer.
UT has talent but man they miss big on guys. All those 4 star WR and only 1 guy on the whole team can catch? Insane.
Now they want to overhaul both lines, the QB room, The DB cortps, LB corps and the WR corps.
Not exactly a 1 year effort.

The good news is that Texas finally did something that Herman did not and that is to recruit the trenches. Herman recruited lots of skill players but not where the games are won and lost all that well. Picking up Banks and perhaps getting Campbell is big imo. Two five start talents at offensive line.

UT has recruited well FOREVER.

Texas was 3rd in 2018; 3rd in 2019 and 9th in 2020. To not even make a Bowl game in 2021. Ridiculous.

Texas has a culture problem.
They have hired CEO types instead of Athletics people to run the program.
Everything they do is about turning the largest profit.
They crushed the Big 12 with terrible decisions that netted only dollars and made no sense.
Then they sold out to ESPN and created the move to the SEC even though they are a TERRIBLE cultural fit.
Texas has no desire to pay 3 welfare schools a year for wins then go 4-4 in conference play the way the non-elite SEC operates.
They want big pay out games versus Notre Dame or BYU or USC or LSU in non conf.

The administration... they love coaching turnover because it draws big donations and keeps coffers full.
They'd thought themselves above JUCO or transfer kids and that is how recruiting is done nowadays.

They need to focus on actually scouting HS kids and then coaching them not spending insane amount so energy kissing booster butt .

UT has enough talent on campus but they need to teach the kids the schemes and develop them.
And they need to get older by bringing in transfers and JUCO kids.
