We live in a society, and a society that is governed requires rules and regulation.
If you don't like it, you can move.
If you don't like it, you can move.

Does there REALLY need to be a law against texting while walking? Seriously?
If someone is so dumb that they walk in to traffic while texting then that's a good thing. One less idiot to deal with on this planet. Those are the ones we DON'T want to save. There is absolutely no reason to have a law against texting while walking.

I literally cannot stand people, some of whom I know and have known very well for years, who take pictures of nearly everything they do so they can post it on Facebook. I don't even use Facebook all that much (maybe once a quarter) but going somewhere with someone who's main goal is to update their location every 15 seconds is literally infuriating.

I do that. And I actually say "pay attention". I hate it when people stop in the middle of a walk path, period. People do it at the mall all the time. I quit walking around them when they do that. I'll walk through them. I told an entire family to get the **** out of everyone's way at WalMart because they were spread out 9 people wide, walking S-L-O-W. Nobody could get by. What's with certain people not showing any kind of respect for others while out in public?Yeagermeister;4640916 said:I have literally had to stop in a hallway because someone was walking and texting/reading email. Sometimes I just want to bump in to them so they will pay attention.

I think it's absolutely stupid.

You take certain rights away and you have to expect that those concessions will be turned on other aspects of peoples lives. It's the unintended consequence effect that is always there when passing legislature. It is what it is.
I don't like smelling smoke either but I do understand that it's a right that is taken from the average citizen.

I almost wish I could live in a time period where the person at the other end of conversation isn't more attentive to their texting conversations and status updates than they are talking to someone right in front of them.
I think it's absolutely stupid.

If you do not like it, go elsewhere. It's not that difficult. The market should be allowed to work. Take your money elsewhere instead of demanding people cater to your whims by passing ridiculous laws.
The nanny state we are now living is is pathetic. People ***** and cry about every little thing and demand a new laws to stop things they find annoying.
I find dumb posts demanding a reduction in freedoms stupid and should it be illegal.
Why would I have to show you anyting? What does your point have to do with the original point being made that your rights are disappearing. You just need to pay attention to what is going on around you and understand that rights are going away IMO. If you don't see it, that's fine. Just don't complain about it later because it's pretty easy to see. I don't think it needs to be pointed out.stasheroo;4641912 said:I don't see where they've banned smoking entirely.
People have the 'right' to do stupid things, in a vacuum whereby their actions only negatively affect themselves.
If you show me a case where they don't have the 'freedom' to do that, I would love to read it.
ABQCOWBOY;4641915 said:I agree with you Hoof. I feel like I'm fortunate that I grew up in an era when we didn't have cell phones or facebook or whatever other social media outlets that are currently out there. When you wanted to find your kid, you yelled out your door. If you wanted to find out what was going on with people, you called them or went to see them and you enjoyed actual conversation and company. When you wanted to leave work, you left and didn't come back till work started again tomorrow. You hung pictures on the walls and remembered events and people in your lives. Your family had more importance on your life then did your circle of friends or social media circle. It was a better time IMO. You didn't need constant attention, you didn't need to be hooked in 24x7.
I feel fortunate.
stasheroo;4641929 said:How about you not go to my hospital or raise my insurance costs when that same freedom is killing you? If you want to separate things, I'd be glad to do that. Just do it all the way, and not just when it suits you.
Same for the slobs who don't know when to stop eating crying about their freedom to be cows. And then a decade from now they're putting a burden on everyone else's medical system for their 'freedom' to be pigs and destroy the life they've been blessed with.
