If that was the case, you wouldn't be clammering for gun control

Gentlemen, I thank you for the debate, but I am going to cede out of it rather than going any further and breaking Forum Rules.

Again, much respect to all and thanks for the spirited debate!

And I would be glad to address that individual topic for what it is, its' own topic.

For the record, I feel those charged with maintaing order and protecting have the right.

Not every other person does.

Here is were we disagree at a fundamental level. Those charged with maintaining order say it is impossible to do all the time, everywhere. A shooting is over very quickly. The cops are generally alerted to the shooting after it has taken place. It is rare for them to drive into an active combat zone where a firefight is taking place.

looking at from a constitutional view the second amendment and the subsequent court rulings are very clear. We do have the right to bear arms and defend ourselves, from bad people or bad government.

You want to ban semi-auto guns. Do you know what those are? Nearly every handgun is semi-auto. They are necessary because reloading a black powder musket takes a lot of time and if some nut is trying to kill you with his illegally obtained semi-auto, you are going to end up dead.

Could that be because the criminals might not be respecting a 'city law' not in effect outside said city?

I'd like to think we learned a few things from the Wild West.

Can you give me a good reason why a citizen needs a semi-automatic weapon?

It could. It could be many things but what it is, in no uncertain terms, is a an example of a failed policy. Guns are not hard to get if obtaining them illegally. That's just the fact of the matter. If, as you elude to, we outlaw guns in the U.S., how are you going to stop them from coming in across the boarder?

You may think we've learned a few things since the Wild West but I trust people to be who and what they are. Until your faith in people is proven as fact, you can't demand that people give up guns. It is just not realistic to expect that.

I'd like to think that we've learned a little as a human race along the way.

And when you see what you're inferring actually happen, you let me know.

But by all means, keep jumping to wild conclusions and making ridiculous accusations.

What leads you to believe that we have learned anything Stash?
