With all the talk centering around the high profile safeties, for some reason it seems people have forgotten about Phillip Thomas of Fresno State. The talented defensive back presently ranks as our #4 safety in the updated rankings. Thomas has a hectic schedule as he will be visiting the safety needy Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, all good fits in round two.

Love his ballhawking skills, hate his tackling.

Though, looking into his youtube stuff a little more deeply, he isn't as bad a tackler as the Oregon game showed.

I'd like him over Vaccaro, but I want a safety that WRs fear. Thomas doesn't scare me. He'd make a good addition though.

I think both Church and Johnson can lay the wood.
QBs would be the ones fearing Thomas.

I get that. The only problem with Church and Johnson is they get hurt and we don't know how they'll play since they've been hurt. I like both players; they're just both huge question marks.

The NFL has worked hard to make sure that problem doesn't exist

With the way football is evolving i'll take the guy that can cover over the guy everyone fears.

This article also says we're interested in Cooper and Stepfan Taylor. I could live with this draft... Cooper, Thomas, Taylor.

Elam can cover. Both are good players. I just think Elam is the most natural safety and would be the most ready from day 1.

Although its great to have a hard hitting S, or two, on your team, the way the NFL has evolved the passing game, I want at least one of my safties to be above average in coverage.

I still think this too. I would love to trade back a couple spots if the guards aren't there and nab Elam. He will show up day 1 ready to play.

That would seem to be a good haul. Not sure about Taylor in the third, though.

I have him going in the 4th, but I think a few other teams will be interested in him.

The fourth would be good. Then we maybe we can get Barrett Jones in the third (considering he's coming off an injury). :)

Cooper, Phillips, Jones, Taylor.

Thomas has really grown on me...I think he would be a great second rd choice.

The defense desperately needs someone who can make plays...he fits the bill.
