Thank you Jerry

....but first we have to establish how far Dak and the Offense can carry the team. 3/18/26 is that date that Jerry decides upon Dak's 2027 guaranteed money (or he gets to 'save' $100m of Daks 2027/28 money). With so many resources ploughed into this Offense.

If Pickens/Booker and Blue (new HC, playcalling and scheme) helps elevate Dak, then we go ALL-IN on Defense in 2026 (Pickens gets extended and Dak gets paid in 2027. If the 2025 'upgrades' dont pan out then it's time to seriously consider Dak's position.
Correct on the 2027/28 money and March 2026 deadline on it, but his 40 million salary for 2026 is already guaranteed.

They can’t just tell him this coming March they are passing on the 2027 money but see you this fall, they have to cut him then and there, and pay game checks for all of 2026. Jerry ain’t paying him 40 million to play elsewhere.

They would need to trade him to get around that. Only way they even want to deal Dak is if he misses significant time this year and Milton balls out. If that happens to Dak again, not sure who would trade for him and his big salary. Plus having to talk him into it.

Fully agree with your point, but there’s no realistic way they can get out of him being here through at least 2027……and the agent knew this. The structure is as bad as the AAV. They did it with Elliott also.

Realistically he will be released in March of 2028.

Im aware that the 2026 $40m is already guaranteed. I just wonder.....and it all depends on what Dak's capable of in 2025......that if he stinks it up (which I dont actually think he will), then the decision is made as we're not likely to get much of an improved Offense as we have now...and you may as well expedite the financial pain paying $40m in 2026 ( and playing a Milton or draft pick QB), but saving $100m over 2027/28, which helps fund the Tyler, Micah and even Pickens (depending on performance).

I think Jerry already regrets giving the contract and (in the scenario that Dak's cooked in 2025) means another 2 years of hurt, a dead man/team walking for 2028.

As mentioned, I agree with your overall point.

I just think a lot has to happen for Jerry to decide to cut bait this coming March, and pay out an additional 40 million over the 2026 season for the privilege.

I don’t think that’s ever been done on a contract of that size, and I doubt cheapie Stevie is gonna agree to be the first. Plus it makes them look even more foolish to have done it to begin with. It’s just not gonna happen.

A trade is the only way around it, and I can’t put together the realistic circumstances under which the team WANTS to trade him, yet someone else is willing to take him and that contract.

Another factor is that the Joneses love Dak. They think he is great. They think he is better than he actually is. It’s the fans that are looking to move on.

Three years. Potentially more, but it won’t be less. The agent made sure of that.

Granted it's not the usual Jerry MO, and it'll take him accepting he made a big mistake, however, what if Dak's 2025 replicates a full season of his below league average 2024 ratings? There's a discussion to be had whether we waste $40m in 2026, or $140 over three years elongating the pain.

One would hope so, yes, but Jerry’s MO is usually to double down on his mistakes.

It's truly amazing how easily Jerry can wrangle them right back in.

He knows his fanbase well.

This team is gonna miss the playoffs and finish, at best, 3rd in the division next season, and ya'll gonna be left hurt. 30 years and counting.

MountaineerCowboy told ya first.
Nothing, including another year of no postseason, will deter some of the fans on here. After all, there's always next season.

There is talent in complaining but not evaluation of value development on the Dallas team. Stick to tariffs, money schemes, and asking for foreign investments.

You non-stop complained through 3 straight 12 win Cowboy seasons. You still see no improvements or good this season...now, back to one's crying.
