Thank you, Will McClay

Great post, he definitely deserves a lot of credit and so does the rest of the front office for listening to this man and picking the right players.

There was a time when some thought Demarcus Lawrence was a bust because he was often injured. I'm not saying Taco will ever become DLaw but give him some time to grow and get better - hopefully he surprises us!
I’ve heard David Moore say that Taco has been pretty good against the run and that his film shows that he’s been better than people realize. He may not end up being a homerun draft pick but I don’t think he’ll be a bust either.

Fact is, All Pro players aren't available in free agency.
OFFENSE

2017 All Pro Team
Left Tackle — Andrew Whitworth, Los Angeles Rams - free agent
Edge Rushers — Calais Campbell, Jacksonville - free agent

2016 All Pro Team
Left Guard - Kelechi Osemele, Oakland Raiders - free agent
Cornerback -Aqib Talib, Denver Broncs - free agent

Fact?

Antwan Woods and other former DTs are the reason the Cowboys WILL NOT draft DT high. They believe, and have proven, that you can find one in the lower rounds (Lett, Ratliff) or bring in a serviceable cast off. So... Vea was never happening and I'm fine with that. As the OP stated: McClay is crushing it.
Woods is balling perfect fit for him in Dallas.

They found him on the scrap heap, after the Titans released him off their 90-man off-season roster. They also signed Daniel Ross off the Chiefs practice squad after he bounced around the NFL and CFL after going pro straight out of junior college. The difference is these guys are making plays now. Some of that is due to all of the attention teams have to pay on Tank, Jaylon, LVE, plus the better coverage from the corners. Some of it is that these two are better than some of the random JAGS they have trotted out there at 1Tech.

Ok. You're right. Free agency is full of All Pro's. Hopefully the Cowboys get their hands on one and overpay for him like most teams do for free agents.

Was a trade.

but if his impact causes them to rethink their stance on adding outside talent, I'm all for it.

This off-season will be huge. They finally have cap room and we will be coming off a likely playoff appearance. We will see if they decide to add talent via free agency, especially since they don't have a 1st round pick. I'm not talking throw caution out the window, off-season champions approach to free agency. Just adding two or three strategic and impactful players that make us better.
I agree and i stand corrected... it was a trade. thanks man.

Which is why I said:

"Free agents are players other teams didn't want or don't feel they are worth paying."

Free agency sucks. I want no part of it. I'm fine with making moves here and there for depth purposes. But I'm not overpaying for a aged veteran or a guy who's not good to begin with.

Fact is, All Pro players aren't available in free agency. And if they are...they aren't worth the money.

False, there have been plenty of great players who have been available in free agency before.

Guys who have made pro bowls and all pro.

Yes there is risk involved. Especially with overpaying. But plenty of great players hit free agency, and then go on to contribute big time for their new team.

There have been. But the sample size is small. And our positions of need happen to be positions teams don’t let go. A ball hawk free safety isn’t gonna be available. Maybe a old one that has injury concerns and wants to be overpaid. Who wants to play that game?
