No but each of those teams had a bit of luck every year. Creating your own luck defies the definition of luck. Did all of those team do something to force the other teams in the league into the W/L's they finished with? Thereby putting those teams in a better position in the playoffs? Did these teams cause the opponent to drop that one easy pass? Just a few examples.

Dropping an easy pass is not bad luck. Its lack of focus from player. The ball bouncing off and into the wrong hands...ok bad luck...the ball tipped up and got intercepted....ok...but goodnplayers make plays. They dont drop passes. And good teams don't need luck. They make plays. And luck tends to even out over time.

A WR making a great catch at a crucial time is not luck.

Good teams make plays
Average teams dont make enough good plays and come up short when it counts.
Bad teams dont make.plays.

#11 overall. Look, I get it, Jerry makes himself an easy target. Dude wants to win and (obviously) wants the credit in doing so. Look at the Netflix special. He obviously made the mistake letting Jimmy go, but Jimmy wasn't going to say around much longer anyway. And who knows, now that I've seen the Netflix special, just maybe Barry and his "hands off but love the player" approach was best for that 1995 veteran squad that ended up winning it all. Along with the signing of Deon, which was all Jerry no doubt. Dallas NEEDED Deon to get the ring in '95 -- wonder if Jimmy would have been on board with the signing?

Anyway, back to the topic -- Dallas is ranked just outside of the top 10 in terms of winning percentage (.536) during the regular season since 1995. I know, I know, what have you done for me during the post season? I get that. But as I've said many times, they were in GREAT position in 2007 and 2016 -- both #1 seeds in the NFC.

Bashing Jerrah is as American as apple pie and fireworks on the 4th of July. It's EASY to do. But unless you've got some context, it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes, I've been frustrated with Jerry. But it's not like this 30 year drought has come with season after season of just 4-8 wins as with many franchises (including Washington until recently). The bottom line is Jerry and those with a hand in the personnel put this club in position for a championship run more than once. Should Jerry get the blame for the 2007 playoff loss to the NYG, or does that fall on the defense? Does that fall on Patrick Crayton not running at full stride when Romo laid the ball out to him in the EZ late in that 4th quarter? Is it Jerry's fault that Romo couldn't hold the ball on a FG attempt in Seattle in '06, or Dez's "catch" was ruled not a catch? Is it Jerry's fault that the defense couldn't make a stop on Aaron Rodgers during the home divisional playoff game in 2016 (Jan 2017)?

You see where I'm getting at. No championship game since 1995 has just as much to do with "bad luck" or players not making plays than Jerry's so-called incompetence as an owner and GM.

Like I said, this will probably piss some of you off, but again it's not just black and white like everyone wants to make it out.

And yes, I think the Parsons trade ultimately will be a good one for the Cowboys. They got good return when you consider not many teams could be or would be willing to take on that contract.

This has reduced the Cowboys franchise record to 57.4%, to the point where they no longer have the best winning percentage in the NFL. They have been overtaken by the Baltimore Ravens.

Now, the third-place team will overtake the Cowboys if they win 4 more games than them this season.

Does anyone want to take a guess as to which team that is?

Lack of discipline and execution in every facet are what have kept this team from taking the next step since 1995.
It's not missing that one big play that cost us seasons.
It's the enormous amount of third and twos that get a first down, only to be called back because of holding. Illegal formation or fault starts.

It won't be that way in the next 30 years. First off, Jerry won't be around all that time. I don't even think Stephen will. Secondly, if your as successful of a business model in terms of franchise, i.e. if you're the Yankees of the NFL, are you really gonna go 60 years between champions? Even the Raiders "stumbled" into the SB earlier this century vs the Bucs. And probably should have beaten the Pats before that in the snow up in Foxboro if not for the tuck.

So no WAY "the Yankees of the NFL" can go 60 years without a SB? but they CAN go 30 years without a SB? Can they go 40? How about 45?

If I had told you in 1995 that the "Yankees of the NFL" will go 30 years (and counting) without a championship, would you have believed me? Or would you have said "That's impossible!"

What do you think the chances are the Cowboys, knowing where they stand right now, will win a SB in the next TEN years? Mahomes could still be playing that whole time, Burrow, Allen. Etc. With 31 other teams in the mix... what are the odds they reinvent themselves, get a championship level QB, and beat one of those superstars in the next 10 years under Jerry?

And if they dont...that will be 40 year. That would put us possibly just two QB eras away from 60 years. 10 years will go by fast. Then 60 won't seem that far off to you in 2035.

The difference is we aren’t making a change in leadership.

We’d hope at some point as we begin pushing that 40-50 year window as Jethro goes into his 90’s that fans will exhaust their support and demand change.
