That 30 year championship drought people are talking about? Dallas is 251-217 (.536) since 1995

Jerry Jones is not an exception. He is an anomaly. He is an outlier. It is not common or normal for any individual to have a lifelong general manager position.

Jones is a businessman. Businesses do not commonly employ managers for life. It is a common practice for businesses to hire and fire managers to invite innovation and discard ineffectiveness.

There is no way to showcase Jones in a favorable light. He has refused to invite different thinking and leadership to oversee his team's front office--since he parted ways with Jimmy Johnson.

There will always be a chance he will cobble together the right mix of coaches, players, support staff, and sub-management that will net him a genuine championship contender. Those odds decrease the longer he retains a death grip on his self-appointed position.
Not any good? What was the score for Jimmy Johnson's last game in the playoffs with Miami...
Jerry doesn't matter a damn to the positive?

Oh I'm sure this will tick some people off.

NFL Cumulative Seasonal Rankings since 1995

#11 overall. Look, I get it, Jerry makes himself an easy target. Dude wants to win and (obviously) wants the credit in doing so. Look at the Netflix special. He obviously made the mistake letting Jimmy go, but Jimmy wasn't going to say around much longer anyway. And who knows, now that I've seen the Netflix special, just maybe Barry and his "hands off but love the player" approach was best for that 1995 veteran squad that ended up winning it all. Along with the signing of Deon, which was all Jerry no doubt. Dallas NEEDED Deon to get the ring in '95 -- wonder if Jimmy would have been on board with the signing?

Anyway, back to the topic -- Dallas is ranked just outside of the top 10 in terms of winning percentage (.536) during the regular season since 1995. I know, I know, what have you done for me during the post season? I get that. But as I've said many times, they were in GREAT position in 2007 and 2016 -- both #1 seeds in the NFC.

Bashing Jerrah is as American as apple pie and fireworks on the 4th of July. It's EASY to do. But unless you've got some context, it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes, I've been frustrated with Jerry. But it's not like this 30 year drought has come with season after season of just 4-8 wins as with many franchises (including Washington until recently). The bottom line is Jerry and those with a hand in the personnel put this club in position for a championship run more than once. Should Jerry get the blame for the 2007 playoff loss to the NYG, or does that fall on the defense? Does that fall on Patrick Crayton not running at full stride when Romo laid the ball out to him in the EZ late in that 4th quarter? Is it Jerry's fault that Romo couldn't hold the ball on a FG attempt in Seattle in '06, or Dez's "catch" was ruled not a catch? Is it Jerry's fault that the defense couldn't make a stop on Aaron Rodgers during the home divisional playoff game in 2016 (Jan 2017)?

You see where I'm getting at. No championship game since 1995 has just as much to do with "bad luck" or players not making plays than Jerry's so-called incompetence as an owner and GM.

Like I said, this will probably piss some of you off, but again it's not just black and white like everyone wants to make it out.

And yes, I think the Parsons trade ultimately will be a good one for the Cowboys. They got good return when you consider not many teams could be or would be willing to take on that contract.
I measure Dallas in playoff and SB wins.

Yep. And an excellent HC that can have more of a say in personnel.

But BP did have that in 2003-2006. Which is weird. Jerry did seem to evolve a little with BP, but then was like "nope, I'm taking the reigns again" with the signing of TO.
Jerry hired Parcells for one and only one reason, to get his new stadium.

As Parcells said on the way out, "In a few years you'll never know I was here."

The difference is we aren’t making a change in leadership.

We’d hope at some point as we begin pushing that 40-50 year window as Jethro goes into his 90’s that fans will exhaust their support and demand change.
Well, in spirit I couldn't agree more.

But there's 3 flaws there;

1- Every single Cowboy fan on the planet could denounce the team...and Jerruh wouldn't leave. Remember...in HIS head, it's the Dallas Jerrys, not the Dallas Cowboys. And unless he's breaking some law or violating league policy, nobody can force him to sell.
2- Jerry has a simpler, stupider version of himself prepared to carry on his ways after he's dead. And then another family member after that, and after that. This truly is the Dallas Jerrys
3-Most Cowboy fans slurp up whatever he does. I mean...it's been 30 years and it just getting worse and worse. Look at the posts in here! The Dallas Jerrys fans will justify anything. They'll believe anything. They're an easily bamboozled and easily pacified fan base.

So I hear you... but this will be the Dallas Jerrys long after everyone in here is dead and gone. AND THERE WILL BE A BRONZE OR MARBLE STATUE OF JERRY AT THE STADIUM IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS TO REMIND EVERYONE!

I’ve always argued the only means to hit Jethro is thru revenue and stadium attendance . Public humiliation isn’t enough without those empty seats and jerseys sitting on the shelves.

It’s why after all of these years I continue attempting to reach these loyalist providing him a pass for early success. But we have seen some waning over the years. Here locally Cowboys viewership is down as are merchandise sales. More season ticket holders are brokering out seats which most are being purchased by opposing fans.

I’ll retain hope once it begins reaching over to the next generations who weren’t here for or who witnessed 90’s success as they become of age and influence to purchase merchandise and tickets , there will be a financial toll.

All the while pounding the message and planting seeds along the way. Regardless I sleep better at night knowing I’ve done all I can to spread the message.

And our hope once he’s passed is much greater for a more normally ran franchise with surviving heirs assuming they’ll all stay on same page and not selling out. Most NFL franchises which stay in the family only have one heir. They fact we have multiple retains the possibility of a squabble among siblings and heirs which could lead to a sale.

Regardless this was Jethro’s dream to be a football guy. Not the kids. It’s why the old man didn’t want partners so no one could conflict his passion. We saw what happened with Jimmy who even with success wasn’t enough to get in his way.

I’m just not sure any of the heirs are willing to take same course. And they are going to be well into their 70’s when taking over so I’ll retained hope we aren’t stuck forever at least for those who live beyond. I’m an old fart who may not out live Jethro. Good luck!!

You gone mess around and ruin the misery that cowboys fans and the vultures known as the media love wallowing in!

This idea that Cowboys have been terrible for 30 years is the biggest lie. A spoiled and entitled bunch is what they are
the cowboys have been terrible in post season. that's what people are arguing, but trying to change the narrative isn't going to change the fact we are one of the absolute worst post season teams in any sport in the past 30 years.

btw, can you show me where they hide the regular season championship banners and trophies. thanks. much appreciated.

the people that get pissed off do not know football, they are just plain fans. It all falls on the players, they are the ones on the field. all people have to do is pay attention. it's like a fashion show now days when professional athletes show up to games now, which carries on to the field of play. they go out there with big ear rings, gold chains on, spend a lot of time looking into the crowd talking to fans, those jokers are not about being great as a team, hell not even as individuals, they want to break the bank and flash their money and jewelry. they are little punks
Give me the Super Bowl champs roster and put them under them here in Dallas under Jerry and I’ll show you a team that grossly underachieves. If you know anything about the NFL, you’ll agree it’s crippling to a team when the GM has a lifetime appointment and can’t be fired. Our GM answers to no one. It’s crippling for a team to have a figurehead head coach lacking the ability to even hire his own staff. Add blinding sunlight for all afternoon home games and the constant distractions of our GM hemorrhaging salary cap dollars by negotiating in August, not March.

What a coincidence, that the past 30 Super Bowl winners have elite GMs who were given a 5 year window to produce in the playoffs or they get fired.

Yes, obviously the players have to perform, but what if the roster isn’t that great?

Putting it all on the players is like giving a terrible script to a terrible director and then hiring actors for the movie and blaming the actors for the movie’s failure. Blaming players for playing for a dysfunctional franchise is hilarious.

If you get a chance, watch “Plan 9 From Outer Space”, directed by Ed Wood. It’s considered the worst sci-fi movie of all time. It’s a great analogy of how the Cowboys are run (slipshod, half baked, with zero accountability at the top).

Are you on Jerry’s payroll? Are you Spaulding??

I really don’t know what to think of fans who believe Jethro as GM is in the best interest of Cowboys Football.

Are these kids or fans who just defend anything Cowboy related?

Would you trade Dallas’ .536 and playoff irrelevancy for the Giants .466 and 2 SBs?

some choose to be gullible or they are on Jerry's payroll to defend him no matter what.

Cowboys fans, then: “We’re everyone’s Super Bowl!”

Cowboys fans, now: “Having the 11th best regular season record is our Super Bowl!”

Wait a minute, are you telling me that if you're hired to do a job and you can't do it, you run the chance of being fired? ;)
