Now mens, let me be the first to say, like the Irish rebel Michael Collins tolt Devalera once, "You're my chief, you'll always be my chief," ah think that way about Romo.
Yes, he does bad things under pressure. Don't we all? (I once gave a downpayment on a covered patio to a contracter feller from North Carolina and he never returned. So that qualifies me as a feller who does bad under pressure. And he was a talker!)

My take is that Romo is an excellent QB. He's not quite there yet but he is working on it. His stats are impressive and when he is gud he is guuud.

It would be folly to call for Kitna or Magoo.

It just strikes me that fans, being fans, have not yet been that discontened enough to actually call for his benching. That, too, would be folly.

But why?

Is Romo's stature good and secure enough that a meltdown in two games does not warrant a call for another QB?

My guess is that fans are way more sopisticated than that. They KNOW Romo is our best chance. They know that a QB controversy is self-destructive to the psychie of a QB and in the long run don't change nothing.

And for that, you mens and fans, ah am proud of you!

(I feel gud now after 2 days. Time to drink beer, tinker with the pickup and square dance tonite!)

Romo is the starting QB for the Cowboys.

I think at the end of the season. The Cowboys will evaluate all the players. Romo will be a year older and I think the Cowboys need to start thinking of the future and start grooming a replacement. And , when the time comes for a change, they are more prepared.

While Romo has some warts, he is one of the best QBs in the league and that isn't even debatable. Only an imbecile or a opposing team's fan would think the Cowboys need to get rid of him.

There is no replacement at this time. Replacing Romo is a 2 or 3 year project, not something to be done mid-season.

Romo is a good QB, but he doesn't learn from his mistakes, despite the fact that he says he will learn. It's not his talent or abilities. It's that he makes the same mistakes raw rookies make. Expect those mistakes to continue until his long term replacement is found.

Jerry should start looking immediately in the college ranks. Not just guys entering the draft this year, but the year after as well. Then have his groomed while Romo finishes off his career. By 2014, hopefully he will be ready to go.

Until then, we ride the Romo rollercoaster.

There isnt a controversy if for no other reason than Kitna and McGee are known commodities and nobody thinks either is better than Romo. Tony gives us the best chance to win of the guys on our roster.

I do believe the QB position is the most important position in football, and any team that is not always developing the position will look foolish in the long run (especially with a QB over 30). Ask the Colts.

Romo is our QB, and should stay that, but there is no reason for us to not be developing someone behind him as of yesterday. Kitna or McGee don't count.

There is no viable alternative. McGee is average at best, and Kitna is near the end. If the Cowboys had a recently drafted first-rounder on the bench, there'd be a huge clamor for him to play.

But since Jerry Jones labors under the delusion that Tony Romo can win him a super bowl, there is no such youngster waiting in the wings.
